Phild Posted 18 January Posted 18 January Surely this guy will need months to get match fit? He finished the Swedish season last November.

Trouble is, he's not CURRENTLY scoring goals, he hasn't played a competitive game for months - the Swedish Allsvensken is a Summer League and the season doesn't start until April. It will take him weeks to get match fit. Edited 18 January by Outfox the Fox 4

BKLFox Posted 18 January Posted 18 January I wonder how many decent strikers we can buy for under 2m that have scored 10+ goals and played 25 games this season hmm 🤔 2

He's now lost all confidence and consistency, momentum as a striker cannot be understated. 5 1
DLH Posted 18 January Posted 18 January If this signing was made circa 2013, we’d all be quietly optimistic. Steve Walsh had an eye for unearthing hidden gems and Pearson wouldn’t accept anyone that wasn’t going to give 100% for the shirt. Unfortunately, it’s circus 2026, where Martyn Glover hasn’t had a single hit in the January window (and a poor track record in general) and Cifuentes hasn’t got a single player, already at the club, playing better than RvN, Cooper, Maresca or Rodgers. This transfer is hope rather than expectation and that is the theme with anything to do with our club now. 1
MPH Posted 19 January Posted 19 January If the options are him, Daka or Ayew, absolutely I’m going to pin my hopes on him…

Plus all the numerous ex-Austrian League players that have transferred across to the German Bundesliga over the years have also been total rubbish. Daka is just one example of failure, it’s not all like that - just saying. Give me Redbull Salzburg’s recruitment regime over Duffkin’s ‘Retirement’ Team any day of the week.. 1

Oh, I don’t disagree, however nothing screams this is going to work out well. This looks every bit as bad as Carranza on paper when you look at the numbers. Diabate is 25, has played less games than Haaland has goals. 30 goals in his career and 18 of them are this season. Difference with Haaland is age. He was in and out of Austria in a year. Molde - 20 gold in 50 games as he broke through. Salzburg - 29 goals in 27 games. Man City - 150 goals in 176 games for Man

Won't argue with anything you've said but we have also signed Jordan James, Ramsey (who is good when fit) and Fatawu in recent times. It's not like they aren't capable of pulling it out the bag.
SB87_LCFC Posted 19 January Posted 19 January I get everyone is a little concerned about the possibility of signing this guy based on one season, but do we forget our greatest ever player came from non-league for £1m and how old was he when he started to produce the goods? Were in no position to be demanding big money signings when were where we are in the league and in the financial situation we are in. We haven't even paid our non-playing staff properly since last summer! If he comes in and gets 7-8 goals before the end of the season, he's made more of an impact than the three waste of spaces we've had this season. 3
Stadt Posted 19 January Posted 19 January We need a striker contacted past June 2026. We have one at the minute if you can call him that. Then Ayew is a shit winger playing up front. Compared to say Lyndon Dykes this would be a far better signing. If it doesn't work out we probably break even. You can't say that 95% of our duds. 1
