The Run In:

 

Hard to see where any wins come from, let alone the 2-4 we might require. 

 

This is how we got on in the reverse fixtures:

 

 

And here, crucially is a 'points swing analysis' 

 

 

^^^^^ here you can see our maximum points possible is 53. All other teams of course have bigger potentially maxes. The final column shows how many points each team needs to finish above our current maximum. But this isn't all, because it's a points swing (i.e points gained by them and/or lost by us) that would get them to safety. 

 

Blackburn for example, if they win 1 more game and we lose 1 more game - they finish above us. 

 

It's therefore pretty easy for Blackburn, West Brom and Portsmouth to finish above us, especially since Blackburn and Portsmouth play us.

Sad thing is 4 wins, probably 3 and one loss, would keep us up. It's the hope that kills you. 

 

People can say why will that happen when we've won one in months. We did it the Great Escape season. But the difference is that we now have a team of overpaid, uncaring mercenaries with no respect or fight for the club. 14/15 we could see we were in games and could see fight. Right now there is **** all

Get relegated and we might actually get a change at the top and a complete re-shuffle.

Even in a poor season, over the last 10 games our attack has been further neutralised, for marginal defensive gains and some people think Managers have little impact.

We are not down until the R is by out name. I belive if we beat pompey we could take this to the last day, get within 3 of rovers and I would take that going into the last game knowing a win would leapfrog them, and hopefully another.

Smash Pompey after they get a dodgy Red and Daka beats all odds by scoring a penalty. Lose next few cause we're shit. Scrape by a Blackburn on the beach.

 

Meanwhile Pompey only pick up a few more points as do Oxford.

Whilst I cant see us winning another game, I would not put it past this vile club and players to beat Portsmouth just to prolong our agony only for us to get pumped by Hull and Millwall. We are an uttelry miserable existence of a football club right now. 

 

And even if by some miracle we take it to the last day and we need to win to stay up, it will be Stoke all over again and we draw 0-0 and go down.

Speaking purely football wise, not financially, we need to go down. Staying up delays the inevitable and next season would be more of the same. Our fan base needs more wins and it won’t happen next year in the championship and may yet not in the third tier, but it might give us a breather.

This is why I want the season done. The championship is the worst for giving you hope as it really is about taking it one game at a time. Even the best teams can be poor and vice versa, which doesn't really happen in the PL. Saturday was the nail in the coffin really

Life would be so much less stressful if I was this positive and naive. 

 

We're down - nothing short of a miracle keeps us up and even then, it would be a travesty for whoever else went down in our place.

Whilst there's always a chance, it really doesn't seem likely - the stats posted by @Les-TA-Jon tell their own sorry story

 

It's hard to see us not getting pumped at Fratton Park and then it will be all over bar the shouting

 

If by some miracle we do stay up then I only see more of the same next season. We circled the drain for a few years before dropping into League 1 last time. Maybe it's better to get it over with quickly so a re build can start
