Problem is, lots of people were saying that last season. I’m just getting to the point where I think it doesn’t matter who we bring in, because we have such a rot at this club.

until the owners are gone and we have a complete course correction it’s all meaningless

It’s not unsalvageable - we just have to appoint a half decent manager rather than literally the worst footballing demagogue in the country.

Page, Alves, Riis, Braybrooke et al are better players than were coming up against. I’d be on board with your theory if Challinor was serving this up but instead we’ve got Chairman Mao when we need economic deregulation

Just thinking about the list of players (specifically the new signings) he seems to have binned off already

Bristvic - only 2 strikers in the squad and showed some bright moments

Doyle - highly rated at this level for creative attributes

McFarlane - competition is Luke Thomas ffs

Kangasniemi - because we are much better off long term playing guys like Souttar and Faes who don’t want to be here and probably won’t after this season (well Faes is out of contract and you’d imagine Souttar moves)

Add Chaplin being a crock, Burns who was signed to keep Chaplin happy being crap, Watson looking like a competition winner, a selection of uninspiring goalkeepers, what do we have to show for the summer window?

Lundstram looks decent

Riis showed he can score last week

O’Hora may be good but held back by Martin ball

Cullen at least has scored a couple

Howell looks alright

Unsurprisingly, the bright sparks have been our academy players who Martin has had nothing to do with developing.

The problem i have right now is that yes we all want him out, but who will replace him.

Frankly who would want to come to this sinking ship when they know the following:

1. The Club is up for sale with no guarantee the new owners will want to stick by the manager

2. The risk of administration looming

3. The current owners current obsession with "Enzo ball"

4. The high turn around of manager's we have had with it turning sour pretty quick with fans if it's not going right due to the total crap we have had to put up with.

Why would anyone semi decent want to come here? We'd end up with another RM who is desperate with no other option.

This is a stupid theory, not many would turn it down if we target the right manager.

I’m pretty sure if you offered the job to Dave Challinor he would take it.

If we have new owners ... he won't last ... however its a season of consolidation and if we were to go up ... if king power and Martin are still in charge it will not go well

On what basis? We do not have the money to throw around? Why would you want to come to Leicester City? I think your delusional if you think we have the same pull as what we did in.the past.

Martin is on hiding to nothing, I get people have had enough of his style of football and his stubbornness etc but I do feel like he has become public enemy number 1 with the fanbase because he represents everything that is wrong with the ownership and chief of football.

The truth is his appointment was never really welcomed or wanted here and when it was made it was tone deaf, doubling down on a style of play that the fanbase had had enough of. Yet they stuck two fingers up to the fans and appointed him anyway.

Now fast forward to 7 games in and we aren’t getting the results we expected and Martin is getting absolute pelters, which was always to be expected. The owner and chief of football when they appointed him knew there was absolutely zero margin for error, every goal conceded, every mistake, every dropped point and defeat would be dissected and vilified because of the manager and his style of play.

Yes it is frustrating, yes it is one dimensional and lacks a Plan B and C to try and change the course of games when it isn’t going our way, but does Martin deserve the level of abuse aimed at him, or has he become the focal point of the KP and Rudkin frustrations because he is effectively the poster boy for this type of football.

The reality is if he is driven out the club do we honestly believe they will suddenly go out and appoint somebody with the opportunity of introducing a new style, I doubt it, it will just be somebody implementing a similar approach and style but who is more likeable and accepted by the fanbase.

I understand the frustrations , but the level of abuse towards a manager who has been here for 7 games is a bit too much and I do think that the anger is being diverted from the architects of 5 years of decline and directed at their latest managerial appointment horror show.

What’s delusional is our board room….. why are they going for Martin? It’s not delusion at all, do you really think and average lower league manager would turn down the chance to come here? Example being Dave Challinor? Of course he would, he’d be paid far more than he could imagine, regardless of what’s happening off the field, allegedly Martin is the highest paid manager in the entire EFL.

He brings it upon himself, you’re talking about a bloke who believes in his own bullshit so much, that he’s completely tone deaf to everything around him. Things a guy who sits there essentially blaming everyone else, but he’s won 4 games in 3 years.

I genuinely don’t like the bloke he’s got narcissistic traits in the way he conducts himself, the only person who can change his fortunes is Martin, but that’s to his devotion to his ideology he won’t. He’s had countless failures yet still persists peddling his product as if it will definitely work and we’re all impatient.

The only way to get rid of him, is make it so uncomfortable for him, the a decision has to be made….. this is professional sports, if you don’t like it, don’t go into it…. I don’t feel sorry for him at all, he has made his bed, and he can lay in it. It’s a hostile environment that if you’ve not got the backbone to deal with it, you’ll be chewed up and spat out.

Challinor will probably get offers which are a better proposition than Leicester City currently. That's my point we will end up with average lower league managers and the ones with potential to manage higher up the food chain will get better offers. It's not as simple as just "here is more money so come and join us"

Dave Challinor the suggested manager is currently out of work. Hardly throwing money around to bring him in. Getting rid of Martin will be costly, depending on what his contract says. Also our club would be a massive pull to an upcoming manager like him who's got experience at this level but not higher. We just target the wrong managers more often than not because we're obsessed with trying to play like Pep's Barcelona but with nowhere near the required skillset.

Even if we don’t get Challinor which we should a half decent lower league manager would still do better than Martin.
It would be more difficult to find someone worse than Martin but I’m sure these clowns would give it a go based on previous appointments.

While I would have appointed Christian Fuchs as manager and got as many 'Class of 2016' alumni back as possible, the club thought otherwise and bought in this guy.

The Percy article in the week confirmed we've signed players who 'buy in' to RMs system and we know a number have worked with him before. Any manager change now needs to take this preference/link into account or we risk having players in the squad who then check out and down tools like so many other players have for us before.

I don't expect any change in manager this side of December at the earliest, unless we're losing 4-5-6 games in a row; we're too early on in the season given we've backed Brussel to the extent that we have. Any change in manager now would be a reflection on the current players' performances too; morale will be back through the floor and our horrendous, self-inflicted abject culture takes hold again.

This isn't a message of support for RM - I didn't want him to begin with - but now we have him and a dozen or more players to play in his way and make him and themselves successful, I think we have to ride this out for now.

I do agree he will get offers in the championship, but we just dither, you could easily flip the scenario……. We’re looking to sell the club, so there’s potential fresh investment in the future and a chance this all get sorted out.

Footballs a short career, and we’re still a massive prospect regardless of our current predicament. I’d be willing to place a bet on that if we backed Martin today, and offered the job to Challinor he would take it.

We can easily attract someone better. We're basically Man City in this league regarding squad and resources.

The issue is the muppets making the decisions have no footballing knowledge of any worth

Too many people on here are willing to base their feelings on the last match. The result was irrelevant today, Martin should not be in this job.

Absolute nail on head.

It doesn't matter if he seems a nice guy. It doesn't matter if he's trying to change the culture at Seagrave. It doesn't matter if he can cook a mean halloumi burger at the family fun day BBQ, he is a very poor football manager who has always struggled to win games.

Forget who the manager is for a moment and look at the results so far. Just the results. Two wins in seven in a poor League One. Is that good enough, regardless of who the manager is? Absolutely not. Questions should be asked of whoever is in charge with results like that.

Now throw in the fact that the manager is Russell Martin who has made a career out of results like this and shows nothing to suggest that he is even capable of being anything but a below average, unpopular and unsuccessful manager.

The fact that the utter morons in charge appointed him in the first place was a disgrace. The fact that he's still here is worse.

I'd imagine they hadn't the first idea that would be the case. They are completely clueless.

I agree with you that many fans aren't helping the situation. My advice to them was always to stay away until King Power have gone as I have done, but the majority can't do it and are just willingly taking part in the farce that is KPFC.

Watching the game yesterday, it was the players who cost us the game not the Manager….youth was the way forward here, and whilst Alves looks a potentially great player if he scores a relatively simple looking second, we win the game….four or five other situations were equally squandered. Always negativity on here, but we wanted youth, we have got it…..Peterborough with new manager will be interesting in three weeks time….

Taking the toxic hats off for a minute. I thought we did actually play well yesterday. Some of the footvall was very good and the midfield 3 looks like it is going to be strong. Alves looks dangerous, Riis is a CF who will score goals. The back 4 looked better. A lot of positives to take if we ignore everything we know about Martin and the regime.

There are downsides though: RW is a problem with no standout, we look weak at goalkeeper, especially with RM's high-risk box passing. Thomas is awful and seeing Faes play for us STILL in 2026 kills a bit of the sout with every hair flick. His subs are also very predictable, as his his response to pressure and I thought he was out-manouvred yesterday by the Barnsley manager.

For the first 15 minutes I agree we played some really nice stuff but after the red card we created absolutely nothing (apart from a Barnsley goal) until stoppage time when it was just headless chicken stuff.
