Nothing to do with whether he was a good player or not I just don't have affinity with him, so not really bothered with what he does next.

That’s a mental comparison- you are comparing him to someone who played a full season, was oven ready world class and won the premier league.

What I'd say with Monga is that if you're talking of players like Yamal or Bellingham they don't only have unbelievable talent, they have obscene confidence to back it up too. 

 

When Monga made those cameos in the Premier League I was so excited because it looked like he had a bit of swagger and confidence but ultimately that completely disappeared last season, I don't actually ever recall him speaking for a start! 

 

This is not a criticism, most 15/16 year olds wouldn't hack what's he done/doing but I had such high hopes at one point.

 

I'd have been raging if we had sold him at the end of that Premier League season when we got relegated but seeing he didn't push on last season I think £10m was a very good price.

 

I'm glad he stayed for that extra season to put my mind at rest as he could have taken the Championship by storm but at least now we know he wasn't ready.

Never mind Yamal or Bellingham does he hit the heights of a Raheem Sterling or Mahrez even? I'm not so sure he does. When you even look at someone like Aaron Lennon who has played over 300 games in the premiership for Spurs and Leeds there are a lot of levels between him and Yamal/Bellingham.

But that's my point.

I was objecting to the comment that because Monga hadn't "played much for us before jumping ship", that was a reason to care less about how he gets on. 
Kanté was someone who was here for just one season, but every Leicester fan will hold him in high regard and care about him. The difference was the part he played in our historic season, whereas Monga was part of two dreadful seasons - so the amount of 'playing time' is not exactly a good reason, is it?

And then I asked whether Monga's football upbringing in our Academy and his 'local' heritage (certainly more local than Kanté) wouldn't be a plausible reason to care about his career after Leicester.

It's fine not having an affinity for Monga, but at least frame it correctly instead of saying it's because he wasn't "playing much".

Can’t see it. It would only happen if Mavididi was leaving and even then he would be second choice left wing. Can’t see Man City going for it.

Probably something Enzo would entertain, but they been giving him minutes. 
Now he has left we might as well develop our own players in the hope of making more on them.

 

Depends if it’s a choice of Mavididi or they had plans to replace him, if not get him back

I’d imagine they wanted to let him have preseason with them. I don’t really think we should entertain this though. He’s genuinely not ready for men’s football yet

It wouldn’t be a waste for all parties. He needs to be coached in the Man City way with talented coaches, he won’t learn anything here just like last season.

I had a very similar first impression on Monga’s first few games in the premier league. Looked a great talent and for an academy play. So exciting.
 

 I think the reduced standard that we saw in the  championship season can be put down to the horrendous environment he was in. Football should always be a joy to play, especially at 15 / -6 years old playing for local club stuff of dreams. 
 

however imagine being in a squad with Winks, Faes, Ayew, Vestegaard and many others, the complete lack of professionals and role models. Has to be so demoralizing and every single player we had dipped. Jordan James started amazing, then end of season got dragged down. 
monga looks a very talented player and I certainly want to see him happy and enjoying his football. Hopefully our initial first impression will be seen again and he can have a great career.
