Do you have proof that we are paying in excess of £30k a week for our 3rd choice goalies.

hackneyfox Posted Monday at 13:58 Posted Monday at 13:58 There were plenty on FT at the time who rated CW very highly.

I know you won't accept it unless I provide the written contract but here is my understanding: Jakupovic from 2020-2022 was reportedly on £23k a week. Smithies was on £30k from 2022 to 2024 (our worst contract ever). In the 23-24 season we had Hermansen (£10k), Ward(£40k), Iversen(£20k), Smithies(£30k), Stolarczyk (£5k) on our books. That's £105k a week on wages for goalkeepers that season. 2024-2025 we had Hermansen, Iversen, Ward, Stolarczyk. Ward was technically 3rd choice that season so on £40k a week with Iversen out of the picture. Last season was better where we had Stolarczyk (£10k), Begovic (£15k) and Vietes (£15k) but the goalkeeper wage situation has been absurd at the club for years. Arguably £15k on the 2nd and 3rd choice goalkeepers is still insane for a championship club, especially considering we got Hermansen on £10k. Edited Monday at 14:03 by honeybradger
davieG Posted Monday at 14:06 Posted Monday at 14:06 Who's next Will Smallbone (26), James Bree (28), Ross Stewart (29), Joe Aribo (29), Charlie Taylor (32), Oriol Romeu (34), Alex McCarthy (36), Jamie Jones (37). 1
FoxTimmy2 Posted Monday at 14:07 Posted Monday at 14:07 We should sign Jan Bednerak he started in both their 0-9 defeats. Would be a signature Rudkin signing.

Hilarious that we’ve fallen so far that Southampton rejects have actually become better than what we have at the club
Popular Post kingfox Posted Monday at 14:13 Popular Post Posted Monday at 14:13 Disgusting news if true. But I’m hearing Bade Aluko and Jayden Joseph are being loaned out, with Francis Benali and Jason Dodd coming in. 5

Which is reassuring as it definitely hasn't been an issue previously when we've allowed managers to load the squad with 'experience'. If not Glover needs to get his notice in. I think that needs to be happening anyway. He's part of this mess over recent years.

CloudFox Posted Monday at 14:45 Posted Monday at 14:45 He's an alright enough keeper, and as second/third choice, then fine. But why are we signing back ups when we need first teamers? We don't desperately need another back up goalkeeper.

VLC86 Posted Monday at 14:53 Posted Monday at 14:53 Expected the back up keeper to be Hamer. Martin wanted him when he was in talks previously, lives locally and is on a free.

RoboFox Posted Monday at 16:24 Posted Monday at 16:24 Whilst in principle the signing is fine - he likely won't ever play a second for us. Seriously: Is the recruitment team lazy or just ****ing shit? With Martin as well as Glover now I feel like this is just going to get worse. Just a steady influx of ex-Southampton castoffs. Embarrassing. 1
Corky Posted Monday at 16:25 Posted Monday at 16:25 Drifting towards oblivion with Southampton connections everywhere you turn. It'll be a mercy when this ends.

There's literally Premier League sides signing arguably worse than him for a 3rd choice well paid slot. We may not be Prem but were probably still a decent gravy train for a 3rd choice keeper outside of the big teams. Good word by Martin to Top and I reckon he could earn £500k+ from us in a season Still not convinced Vietes doesnt move on if he can get interest in Spain. So maybe he will be challenging Stol.
