How many out, before we start getting any in.

It feels like everyday the same threads appearing on incoming players who are free agents - Ings, Chaplin, McCarthy etc. How many more do we have sell, loan, bin off before we sign one of these free agents. It really does make you wonder how bad the financial situation really is.

We obviously need to offload higher earners before we bring more in.

Focus is outgoings at the moment.

Last seasons business should have made you realise how bad the financial situation is.

I thought we might have got a few free transfers over the line by now - quite a few have moved on or not had their contracts renewed. Don't really see the point a getting a new manager in with completely new ideas if the squad we are left with have not been party to it during pre-season.

Just goes to show how frail our finances are and how much harm has been done by relegation.

I'm not sure the shite has actually hit the fan with us yet.

We have to show we forecast to stay within the 65% of turnover constantly, not just submit a financial forecast at the start and then hope to make ends meet at the end of the season and sell.

Would it be bad to force a few out? Not sure if we are avoiding it so we don't put off future signings, but surely the crap high earners would push harder for a move, even cut price, if those knew they won't even be in the squad, affectively hurting their careers...

In terms of spending cash, I would imagine they are trying to create some headroom with book value. Currently we roughly have the following still on the books:

- Faes - £3m per year.

- Souttar - £3m per year.

- Okoli - £2.6m per year.

- Kristensen - £3.4m per year.

- Skipp - £4m per year.

- Mavididi - £1.3m per year.

- Fatawu - £3m per year.

That total's around £20.3m currently on the books and we have raised around £14.5m profit through the sales of BEK and Monga. Obviously this is not including wages which I assume for most of these are huge for league one.

Wasn’t it something like 40m quid needed before we start spending, and to avoid another potential points deduction? Monga a great start but we probably need those Fatawu, Souttar and Nelson fees cumulative before we see someone signed for a price.

Does Khannous money count ?

You'd imagine Fatawu, Faes and Vestergaard at least need to have been sold/moved on before we can bring anyone in, joining Winks, Monga, El Khannous, Daka, Ayew, Kristiansen in moving off the books.

Monga, Elk and Fatawu should generate the £40m income needed on their own and the rest of the outgoings should rid us of the highest earners / deadest wood

My major concern after that is the horrribly ragged squad it leaves us with.

Goalie - Fine and League One or above standard.

Full back - unproven right back, ok left back but zero cover.

Centre Back - no idea who will be left and how motivated they will be. A real issue. If we have Nelson, Okoli, Gray at start of season and expect to play passing football we are headed for disaster.

Centre Mid - relative strength with Choudhury, Skipp, Chaplin, Page, Braybrooke. Actually it is a massive imbalance towards centre mids in the squad.

Wingers: Mavididi, Alves and then some youth prospects including Evans. No strength or depth above league one quality.

Strikers: None. Hutchinson, Opoku etc would be 4th or 5th choice in a  proper League One winning squad so we have the exact same issue we had last year with no goals in the squad.

So conservatively we need 3 defenders, 2 wingers and 2 strikers in the next 3 weeks to have even a passable league one squad, which is never going to happen given how late our sales business is likely to be.

I can see us struggling early in the League against bigger physical teams who know the league. Bullying Stola at corners, and the same for Braybrooke, Alves, Aluko + whoever we have up front.

Worrying times.

As always the club seems to start with goalkeepers and leaves the striker situation very late. Really need to keep Souttar if we can IMO full back situation isn’t great either.. Would be nice if we could sign a couple of talented hungry young attacking prospects but haven’t seen any sign that any money is going to be spent or scouting is going on

Think people are underestimating this rebuild.

We probably need a lot more money before we can spend.

Fatawu, Souttar, Faes, Skipp and Nelson to go.

We probably need to bring in 2 x CB, 2 x CF, DCM and 2 x Wingers minimum.

It going to be madness until the end of the deadline in and out.
