Leicester City For Sale (Ongoing Thread)

Throwing Leuven in as well makes it much more appealing to a multi club group. You have a (weak) but pre-established link between a club with top 8 PL facilities and lets say a top 25-50 academy in the world and a club close to breakeven in the top 8 European leagues.

 

If you had deep-ish pockets (for a football club owner) a relatively modest 3-5 year investment and you have a top half PL club and a Europa/Conference Belgian one. In the mean time syndicating processes, software, scouting networks and so makes it easier. You only have to look at Midtjylland and USG to see how quickly smart smart clubs make a dent at the the top end of these leagues.

 

The name recognition is huge and maybe I'm overrating it but 99.99% of clubs in world football nobody has ever heard of, even in L1 we're part of that 0.01% - which if you're looking to purchase a club that is pretty appealing. Based on all this the Manceuto link sort of makes the most sense for me.

Honestly, bringing in an American ownership group like Todd’s could be a massive win for the franchise. We're talking serious front office investment, roster retooling, and bringing that elite USA sports business playbook straight to the near London Leicestershire Foxes. Definitely something to keep an eye on as the front office navigates this acquisition phase.

I think the £700m+ debt reportedly that needs to be paid by next year or the £1.2bn debt in the next five years is a feature for their hate as well.

As much as I want the club to be sold, I would really question whether I would still support us if we were taken over by Red Bull. This isn't for ethical reasons. I know that most parties with the capital required to buy professional football clubs in England have probably got skeletons in their closet, and Red Bull would not be the most unethical buyer possible. It's that the football club that I support still has to resemble Leicester City. Red Bull have gone into football clubs in the past, changed the colours and badge and have incorporated their name an branding into the name of the club. At that point I would no longer be a fan of Leicester City, I'd be a fan of soft drink company that has a football club in Leicester.

I completely agree with everything you say about not wanting Red Bull but walk into the King Power Stadium and try and find some evidence that you are a fan of Leicester City and not a badly run duty free monopoly from Thailand that has a football club in Leicester. There's nothing - it's just King Power branding everywhere.

You're right, and I'm not going to defend them. However, we are still called Leicester City, we still play in blue and the badge is still a fox and a cinque foil. The basic resemblance is still there.

So you’re a fan of the badge and the name, not the club and what it represents - which it can do in any colour and with a pink lizard as its logo, if it wants. 
Not trying to be confrontational, honestly, just genuinely curious why you think a badge represents the club more than its actual history, achievements, place in community etc etc.

For me, I’d like it to stay the same, but I don’t think I’d care that much if it didn’t. Maybe I’m in the minority - not that it matters either way! 😂🤷

 Is RB Leicester city a problem if we still play in blue and the badge doesn’t change ?

The badge has change 3 times whilst I've been going and we were once know as Leicester Fosse like @TrentFox I wouldn't want it to change.

I think the colours are hugely important. Its part of your identity.

That's why I'd prefer away kit to always be yellow or white, sash kit is acceptable too. Also why i'm not frothing at the mouth for the burgundy kit. Surely big companies should be all over it too, brand recognition and everything.

The difference is those were design changes. That can happen. However, if they changed the badge to have red bull logo, then that is a completely different story.

I think his intention was actually just to hoover up the young talent to flip later on for profits. Im not sure success on the pitch has been that much of a factor in the signings they've made. Its been a case of trying to sign the next big thing before they're the next big thing and make big profits. But its been way too scattergun.

The thought of any connection to the vile Dodgers (owned by Boehly) sickens me.

 

Awful scummy club, who threw thousands of people out of their homes to build their ballpark, fans have assaulted visiting Giants fans and have now broken baseball by cheating salary rules by termination it "deferred consideration"

 

I still wake up in a cold fever sometimes having nightmares about this...
