Not suggesting they do.
It’s just that nothing would surprise me with these clowns in charge.

2 weeks ago on the transfer deadline day, Talksport said Faes was off to West Ham and Page to Man Utd.

I wonder how much leuven are worth as a club? Because the media don’t seem to even mention that there is also a top tier Belgium club factored into any sale here

Total stab in the dark but £50m maybe (not even considering debt). Not checked the transfer values which may sway that but only a 10,000 stadium, no idea on training facilities, not really done anything of note. Club Brugge got valued at around £160m- 200mish a few years years back and they're the dominant force in Belgium. Constant CL campaigns, able to sell players for good money, 30,000 stadium etc.

The major upside to Leuven or any smaller club in Belgium is that it probably feels more achievable to get into the CL or European football with a bit of investment and luck. Even more so with how mental their league structure is.

I think we can say 60 m for leuven and the womens team is a fair estimate.

so 140m for us, with our training ground, stadium and one team city…. That doesn’t sound almost half as bad.  Not to mention that if our financial regulation issues are a stumbling block you’ve got a couple of loopholes options ready made if you’re savvy enough.

that’s not a lot more than some players are going for lol

Question for buyers of this level is not what we cost, but what we could be worth.

You basically buying a turnkey business with stadium, training and feeder club all sorted and it needs a decent 250m of working capital pumped in over the next 3/4 years to get the club back in the EPL.

Which, when added to a buy price, would a healthy LCFC 15th in the EPL be worth, say, 450m+

But would anyone buy us for £450m (which is break even for the owner who buys us at £200m) as that would never be a worthwhile outlay for the potential for that value to plummet. The chances of then further kicking us on to be worth £600-700m is close to nil.

Owning football clubs is an appalling waste of money.

Club is worth jack shit, reality is no one wants to buy football clubs at the minute (40 odd for sale out of 72), there is very little in it even in the Premier League and there is no guarantee that we get there and stay there, we are a long way off, it would be a huge risk. Best we could hope for is £20 million up front, maybe another £20 million in the championship and the rest upon Promotion.

This is why it almost cannot be looked at logically - from a fans perspective anyway in my opinion because for whatever reason people with that kind of money love to do it

You would think with how much money is needed to be thrown at football these days that you wouldn't see clubs being bought very often, but to me it seems to be happening more often than it ever used to be - you used to have proper long term ownerships at clubs but now it seems like there is always quite a few clubs in talks for being take over, investors joining etc.

The club may be seen as a bit of a money pit at the start - but to someone who has the money and wants to spend I think they could see it is a "shortcut" of sorts because a lot of groundwork of the ownership regarding stadium (planning permissions in place already), training ground (already done), womens side (wouldn't take any money at all to turn them into a decent side), multi-club model (get Leuven as a part of the deal), dedicated supporters (they know they will always be able to sell all the season tickets) is already there for them to jump on

As an example Charlton Athletic are up for sale, but if you wanted to turn them into a proper Prem side with the stadium, facilities, big project club etc. then I think they would cost a lot more to get to that end point than we would

Smaller initial outlay but look at the money Birmingham's owner is throwing at that club within just a couple of years and has already committed to with a multi-billion pound stadium - the potential owners are out there

After the year end we would also have to do some serious work around going concern for the auditors to sign off the accounts, this is tricky piece of work for even a profitable company with long term agreements. Gone are the days of auditors signing off accounts without some serious reassurances around going concern for 12 months +

The audit world has changed massively since covid, PwC aren't going to want their name all over the news if it goes tits up as it will be high profile.

Very good point. Audits are no longer purely finance focused either the remit is expanding. Post year-end performance always comes under a lot of scrutiny especially with respect to Going Concern as you say.

But nothing is more certain in life than football inflation.

450m in 3 seasons will be chumps change for an established prem team

They probably will. Some people are just so grateful for the memories that can never be taken away.. the league win, the FA cup, champions league football. And i totally sympathize with them on that. In hindsight,  the league win thrust us into a. Environment no one at the club was prepared for and no one had the experience to deal with. And when you had the utterly incompetent Top into the mix. There is only one  way we were going. I don’t have the hate for Top that others have. Not his fault that his Dad died  unexpectedly and he had to try and pick up the pieces, yet at the same time, he should be nowhere near our club and neither should Rudkin.  And unfortunately KP seem to have no ability to turn us around so the quicker we are sold the better.

I think we all are. You make a good point about being totally unprepared for the league win and all the trappings of success - fine. But Vichai always learnt his lesson after making a mistake, and pretty quickly. His son on the other hand is a blithering idiot. There is KP1 and KP2, and unfortunately the night the helicopter went down was the beginning of the end of any semblance of competence and ability to learn at the club.

You can both be grateful and beside yourself with anger at how it’s unravelled. And I don’t understand people who only think they can be the former.

Does someone have to buy both clubs? Or couldn't someone different buy Leuven as a separate club?

They can offer what they want. What we know is that both are up for sale and can be purchased as part of the portfolio.

Unless it has other value, such as laundering your reputation, or in the case of US owners seemingly building enough of a power base to eventually use your majority of votes in the PL to close shop.

I've said it many times on here, The Accident was the worst possible thing that could have happened us. Vichai could make decisions but more importantly he listened to those better informed within the Club. Unlike Top who gave Rudkin a title he has no abilty to fill, and even now we're still suffering for it. It seems as if he's lost interest in us or football in general.

It's clear the KP Parent Company either has no interest in us. Or have no confidence in Tops leadership to put more money in. Who can blame them.

Those who know it do not speak about it.

I think it's more to do with the fact that why start charging players now and also the fact that (from what i can see) no other club charges their players. If they were trying to do it to "encourage" players to live closer, it's the most dim-witted way of doing so

If they stay when they have to, that is not a taxable fringe benefit.  If you let them stay when they don't have to, that is a taxable fringe benefit.  Charge at cost 80 quid, no taxable benefit again.

It will be a lot less close to Nil once  the club is sold and some competent senior management are brought in. The club can be seen as capable of developing young talented players and this would be improved with better coaches manager, scouting sports science. Ultimately we need to get the culture bandwagon going again like we diid ten year ago. Investors will have high belief that thy can turn it around.  That’s their ego challenge.

Yep! The joys of NDAs is that you are ITK, largely because you’ve got to sort something out and unfortunately you can’t discuss the gossip!

The deadline for bids into Citi Group was what, 14th Sep? Citi Group will have NDAs in place, so I thought it unlikely we'd hear any time soon, and its unlikely the bidders themselves would come out and announce their bids, (unless they are bidding for publicity).

But its possible an update was issued following the deadline, ot there was a leak, or we have an ITK, so seeing pages and pages of posts since the 14th, I thought we must have some news.

But I haven't read such absolute crap for a long time from people who clearly have little involvement in finance, but feel the need to post into a thread as though they know something because its a football website and they follow football.

(Apologies to the interesting posts on audit opinions, what the true level of what our debt is, and some other sensible voices) but posting that nobody is going to buy us, or we are definitely going into administration, or reading into a spurious post about 2 people backing out as being significant? It's all just s**t.

If there is anyone that actually has some actual information, then please post, but otherwise can we just stop the rest of the nonsense?

Drop mike.

If everyone posted about what they only knew about the inner workings of football, King Power and Top ………. This would be a very, very quiet internet forum.
