I'm happy with this one to be fair.

 

Work colleague is a Ipswich ST holder and has nothing but good things to say about the bloke. He and many Ipswich supporters view was, that when he signed that extension the other month, fans were happy to have him as back up and seemed a sensible move. 

 

Premier League standard (albeit lower half, but still!)

 

He's now going to be playing in League One - i think he will be really good for us.

 

I understand we won't ever sell him for profit, but ultimately i couldn't careless, get us out of League One and thats a good return on his investment.

 

Ayew and BDCR didn't come with glowing references.

Assuming Skipp is still here at the start of the season that is and if he is gone that we won't have brought in a replacement.

I think Page is backup to Braybrooke personally, so should get plenty of minutes still. Obviously Cullen can play CAM as well but think we will see him as a false 9 alongside Chaplin/ BDCR quite a bit as well.

I’m completely torn by the business we’ve done this summer. I can argue pro’s and cons for both sides. 
 

Realistically, for the future of the club we absolutely have to get promoted this season, I don’t think that’s hyperbole, without promotion then administrators is around the corner. We’ve sold nearly all the assets we have left, and the talented kids we have coming through are being picked off by Man City before we can even hope to flip them for profit. Braybrooke, Nelson etc are down to a year or two on their contract. 
 

So I get why we’re not being brave and totally trusting the academy, but I also have no faith in the club to identify and sign the correct players on the budget we should be sticking to.

Height is still an issue for the whole team but it looks like we are focusing on pace and work rate which I absolutely dont mind after watching the slow and lazy trudgers of last season

As Prem Standard even before they flopped in the championship after.

Just because you play in the top flight doesn’t make you Prem standard, more so for the teams dropping straight back down.

Concerns over the wages we are paying but let’s be honest, the club were never going to learn.

 

Good player mind, and a profile we don’t really have in an area we are weak in (RW).

 

Understand that people feel this blocks Alves and Carr, but the club has to go straight back up. Alves can’t be relied on for fitness and Carr is still super inexperienced, a loan may be really good for him.

Was very impressive in Ipswich’s first season back in the championship but standard concerns about his recent injury record. I guess anyone we sign is going to have a question mark against them in some regard.

The issue for me with signing Burns is that if he hadn’t had the ACL injury, there’s no chance he’d be moving to us in League 1.
 

This isn’t like Fatawu for example who suffered an ACL injury early in his career and has the biological advantage of youth on his side to aide with his recovery. Burns is on the wrong side of 30, his body is on the decline anyway and how he performs coming off such a serious injury is up in the air at the moment.

I completely agree and understand where you’re coming from.

 

Probably the difference here is, we’d all agree that from your list those players are the pits, whereas the view from Ipswich is quite different.

 

I’m not saying we’re getting a Premier League player, but I think this should be viewed ‘slightly’ more positively than it is right now.

 

We are in League One.

Or logically apply that we have just about kept our head above water for the past two seasons with the buffer of parachute payments, which are finishing so need to find £45m a season to fund that gap.

Then you have the dwindling squad value, majority of assets sold so you loose that side of the income too.
