There were a couple of times where Thomas just played it sensibly in the channel. You’ve gotta do that rather than trying to get out from being boxed in.

It's bloody infuriating. Perhaps League One teams will be less clinical but it doesn't veer away from the fact how overly pointless yet dangerous it can be.

You say that, but i was surprised just how many times we actually managed to play through the press.  I don't think the problem was playing from the back, i think it was decision making and execution in the final third that cost us.

Yep - You can’t take anything from tonight other than the fact that we still absolutely shit ourselves when the pressure ramps up.

 

Young players learning is about the only positive you could take.

 

It’s going to be a shocker of a season isn’t it.

Chaplin is definitely a leader.

Saturdays team line up is massive for that twat of a manager we have.

Play any of the journeymen swamp residents and he deserves everything he gets.

He has now pretty much seen every player perform in friendlies , league and cup games so should quite clearly know who is most effective players are.

I'm not holding my breath though.

Shows how far we have fallen that people are quite happy with a decent performance and a 3-1 defeat at Ipswich. 

 

The problem with this style of football and not having the players to do it is that we will gift numerous chances per game to the opponents. Notts county or Northampton were not good enough to take them or it would be four losses out of four. 

 

We look better without Skipp and Okoli of course, but I thought the performance went to shit when Cullen and Reid came on (surprise surprise) Why does he keep taking our main striker off so early? Chaplin was good, as was Page and Howell. Some promising signs but still loads of red flags too.

Howell, Page, Braybrooke, Aluko (hope he's ok, didn't look too good), Joseph in a quick cameo all refreshing. Fit, quick, enthusiastic, eager, progressive, technical. 

 

Watson a step behind Alves ATM, but he's a couple of years younger.. MacFarlane, well, needs a bit of time. Same as Bristic.

 

Poor Jakob looks broken and  needs a bit of TLC.

Losing is a habit, one we’ve had for the last two seasons.

 

All we needed to do was play solid, no nonsense football, and we’d be getting results. Instead we are dicking about on the edge of our area, giving away soft goals, and getting an entire new squad ingrained with the habit of failure and loss.

I'm at a loss with people finding positives from that performance.

 

We're fundamentally floored. If we can't score goals then we're going to lose the majority of games where we concede. We concede because we are guaranteed to give away 3 or 4 gift wrapped chances per game by over playing.

 

I could stomach playing this way if we're winning games 4-3 and creating great chances but we look absolutely clueless in the final third. 

 

I'd say there is a 80 -90% chance of relegation if Brussell stays - I'm not being over dramatic.

Some promising performances - especially Young Harry.  Did well until the BDCR/Cullen subs - albeit against an Ipswich second string team.  No real cutting edge which is a concern with the number of shots (at least triple compared to normal this season)
