Been a great window for getting rid of the dross incomings seem like good buys on the majority and we have managed to bring more youth into the first team, couldn’t really asked for much more

It would be interesting to see reflections on other transfer windows. I seem to recall that they’re generally more optimistic than the reality of what they deliver. Certainly in recent years. It would be interesting to see how we rated the Summer 2024 window when we signed Ayew, BDCR and Skipp. 
 

Anyway. Partly driven by necessity we’ve got rid of a lot of the high earners and dead wood. Just not having to see Ayew, Winks and Daka in Leicester shirts again makes you sing with joy. Also, out of necessity, we’ve had to get rid of players that we’ve developed - like Monga and others like Fatawu who we wouldn’t have wanted to lose.

 

in any other circumstances all of our signings would have been “meh!” at best. In the context of being in League One with no money I think the team can be commended. It’s clearly been hard work with such a high turnover of players. 
 

The big gap for me, however, is the absence of a striker. I’m not excited by Riis or the Bosnian, although I hope they prove me wrong. I was hoping for an exciting loan signing or an existing academy graduate to step up. This problem isn’t solely created by this window, but the historic failure to replace Vardy with even a bang average replacement. 
 

Our last season in League One saw us being propelled to promotion by Fryatt and Howard. We were competing against a Peterborough side with Mackail-Smith and McClean. I don’t see any of our strikers having that much impact this season and I’m worried that might leave us short. 
 

So, for that reason I would give it 6/10 but, maybe the extenuating circumstances, you could argue for higher

I'd say the OUT column makes for good reading. Too early to tell when it comes to the IN column. Some of the new arrivals (Cullen, Burns, Bristric) haven't looked great so far.

I agree with this. Cullen and Burns look poor so far, and let’s not mention Watson, though I think with Bristric I’ve seen enough to see potential. He’s had moments, and can’t be easy for a young lad from Eastern Europe to walk into our club right now. Plus he’s not played that many first team minutes in his career to date. 
 

If we continue to play a nucleus of academy players with some of the more solid signings then we might just have a good season.

I hope we do well and will find our way to promotion. Anything less will be a problem (we aren't shite enough to get relegated with this squad).

If we manage to offload Faes, Okoli and Coulibaly, it'll be a near-perfect summer transfer window.

We'll likely be stuck with BDCR for the season.

 

Having said that, a few new arrivals look rather underwhelming. Chaplin (sicknote), Burns and especially Cullen spring to mind.

Only history will tell us if this is a good window. On the surface, we have got rid of players I thought we wouldn't be able to, and brought in lots of fresh faces. 

 

But my worry is, have we thought long term on this? If we get promoted, will there be scope to strengthen again, or are we expecting to go with the same team. 

 

We have to wait longer term before we can make this statement, but I'm happy with how it's gone. What I'm more happy about is seeing local lads representing the club and being the better players.

Too early to say. We still might shift more deadwood in the coming days, so it could yet improve.

 

I would also add Rowett and Martin to the window transfers. Which changes the complexion a bit again.

 

The biggest positive of the window is keeping Page and seeing Academy players take their chances with both hands. 

 

I can't say that paying off Vestergaard and the prospects of Mavididi and Skipp returning is positive, and the fact we couldn't shift Souttar or Faes (again) is disappointing and a another damning verdict of the insane deals we've previously dished out.

 

I would say it's par for the course at best - we've done a bit, but not enough to earn praise. Hopefully we've turned a corner though.

It’s a good window, insofar as we’ve shipped out the majority of crap buys we accrued through years of mismanagement.

 

If we had a proper Director of Football structure, they’d be the constant line throughout managerial change and would have a stronger hand in recruiting players to fit the consistent style of play (Brighton, Brentford etc.).

Unfortunately it appears we’ve gone down the Cooper route again and signed a load of players the manager wants and has worked with before. Great if it works but we could be in the exact same position again, where we need to offload a bunch of players who are specifically tailored to Martinball.

We have got rid of a lot of players but relegation to division three will tend to create a rush for the door and give you more options.

 

Incomings have been unconvincing and some have been poor.  12 (?) players in and our best players are still our kids. Still too many with no resale potential.

 

To call this a good window is premature.
