Which would have been grounds to dismiss if we were rationally setting out milestones we needed to be at.

 

Soon it’ll be 7 and 8 points and then it runs away. We’re not going to improve - Rangers didn’t get better prior to sacking him, he didn’t look better at game 10 or 15 with Southampton in the PL

"Only 5 points off the autos" - people do realise it's even worse we're that far off when the table, in theory, should be congested early on? That's a damning indictment of our start

If we'd stayed in the PL and not dropped to the lowest point in the clubs entire existence people would be delighted.

I can also see this point. I think that his suicidal style of play in our own box is utterly stupid…. But, we’ve hired him, we’ve backed him in the transfer market, and should give him enough time to prove that his methods aren’t going to work.

The knee jerk decision was appointing this bloke in the first place. A manager 90% of the fans never wanted, who they backed away from going for in the past because of the negative reaction to the mere possibility of him being in contention, let alone at our lowest ebb. Wrong manager, wrong club, wrong time.  
 

We have some very good youngsters, and some better experienced pros this time around, but they are being hamstrung and set up to fail by the ineptitude of this ‘manager’. If we do not get it right this season, we are even more financially screwed than we already are, and we’ve gone all in on Russell Martin!!

 

We may be six points off top, five points off autos, but let’s be honest, we look nowhere near capable of either right now. The two victories we’ve had we conceded a hatful of chances, been battered at home by Oxford, outfought by Burton, wasted a gilt edged opportunity today at Barnsley and drawn with two newly promoted sides. Nothing at the minute points to any turnaround.

 

Barnsley pressed us high with ten men because they knew defensively, we’d give them chances, and sure enough, we did and that’s all they needed. We will continue to gift chances every week unless the setup changes, and we all know it won’t with Martin in charge. The only caveat for persisting with him, is I don’t trust the hierarchy to 1) take any accountability for yet another mistake & 2) trust them not to make another one with the next appointment.

Our away league record this calendar year is quite odd. Won 2, Drawn 9, Lost 3. We seem to have a lot of this type of away match.

Can you not see patterns emerging?  Can you not see Martin's tactics costing us goals or points every week. Have you not seen the track record?

 

This is not a problem that will resolve itself given time.

Not really. Scrapping a win wouldn't have been much better, yes they'd be more or a relief but the annoyance of how difficult we made it would still be there
