Carry-On. 5/10.

About 90 minutes in I suddenly realised Sid James and Bernard Breslaw weren't going to make an appearance. Very disappointed.

Did lack gags got to say lol

Did a full Lord of the Rings Extended Edition marathon on Saturday with a mate.

The artistry and craft put into that trilogy is unbelievable. Filmmaking at its absolute peak.

No doubt a masterpiece in terms of visuals and atmosphere.

For me, too long and convoluted. But then I struggle to suspend disbelief. Therefore anything based in fact, is my go to.

Remains one of the greatest stories ever told.

Watched Longlegs the other night. Didn’t realise it was Nic Cage until I paused it. Found it really scary until that point then I thought it was quite funny.

I think the hype definitely had me on edge about it a bit more then I needed to be.

Just watched 65.

Sad how American movie makers can envisage advanced civilisations with interstellar space  travel, but not free health care.

100% correct.

I'd argue its the greatest trilogy of all time too.

And if anything, my opinion of the standard of writing of the books has gone up over time, too.

You have George RR Martin and Robert Jordan, among others,  trying to imitate the style of Professor Tolkein, but they seem to think that means being far more overly descriptive and florid than he really was.

The first remains the best.

I think Back To The Future is up there with the way the stories all intertwine really cleverly.

It's certainly up there.

It's a rare trilogy where one film is not noticeably substandard compared tothe others, BTTF has that honour too.

I agree, just like Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Human Centipede.

Under rated trilogy no doubt.

The first one is a bona-fide classic

Did this myself on boxing day. They are near perfection in terms of blockbuster filmmaking, largely cos so much of the film is practical effects although even the cgi largely holds up and Gollum still looks incredible. I will say though that the extendeds back to back is pretty exhausting and I def didn't pay as much attention as usual. Might have  'accidentally' skipped the extended tree beard stuff as well 😄

Thought Civil War was really good but it’s likely not to be everyone’s cup of tea because of how the story is presented. It’s less a (future) war film, more of a closer look at war correspondents. More in common with something like Generation Kill
