Great film. Although from my opinion it was too over-hyped in the media. For me it follows along similar too Dunkirk. I don't think it's personally better than saving private ryan although this would be in my top 5 best war films. i would give it a solid 7.5/10.

Once upon a time in Hollywood...I didn’t get it

agreed last 20 mins a good but unless you know the history of Sharon Tate, it makes little sense.

It should come with a disclaimer to do your homework before you watch it.

If i was a betting man i would have Parasite to win a couple of oscars. Its the only 10/10 film i have seen for a while. If youve not seen it (doesnt come out over here for a month or so) i would advise watching it but dont watch any trailers or read about it just go in blind and watch it.

Finally watched all the band of brothers episodes, what a fantastic series, directed brilliant, and a fitting touch having the veteran’s each episode, especially last, quite sad! God bless them all

It is slower to get going but is historically quite accurate, focusing on a few characters in the US Marine Corp, The battles for Guadalcanal, the Sergeant who won the medal of honour but would not stay in the States doing promotion tours and then won the Navy cross, the fighting on Iwo Jima really comes across as bloody and brutal.

One of the actors may look familiar since he could out run a Raptor :teehee:

A little taste,

Saw 1917 this evening. Can only add to the plaudits, an incredible piece of cinematography, it'll be winning that Oscar hands down.

I did enjoy playing "spot the cut" though. :D

Same lol

As a video editor I couldn't avoid it.

I'm pretty sure at one point they'd chroma key'd one of the actors on a green screen to place it over the cut.

Genius.

What's chroma-key-ing?

Basically using green screen to replace the background or place an object or person into a scene.

There was a bit near the beginning when they were going through no mans land where Blake walked in front of Schofield, filling up the whole frame, and there was a tiny tiny jerk of the camera as it started to follow Schofield instead.

It was either chroma key or it was part of the transition from the camera man to crane or wire or vehicle.

Seriously brilliant filmmaking.
