27 points and a 5 grand fine. Well that was a long stay in div one. They don't want us in it anyway. To be honest we are getting spanked by the bottom team at home so should be down anyway but this decision absolutely stinks.

That's a pretty outrageous punishment. It wasn't dangerous and both teams had to play on the same pitch! Cricket is sadly going the same way as football.

Given how many wickets went down on the first day, and in order to avoid a further points deduction for this match (because only Leics tend to get these punishments, of course), perhaps the safest thing to do would be to ensure that Hants get 500-600 on the board in this second innings.

Yep they should save the bowlers for Sunday, nothing to be gained here.

 

This is absolute farce of a decision. 27 points with a further 8 possibly pending!! Sussex only got 12 for sustained financial losses, yet we get this hammer blow for a debatable pitch after the worst drought in decades.

As someone on twitter stated - The report doesn't reflect well when you read it on Leicestershire, didn't dispute it was a poor pitch and Head Groundsman basically said it wasn't his decision and felt like he couldn't push back to Henderson and Thomas.

Thats incredible reading that.

 

The section on sanctions talks of automatic 16 points, which can be adjusted up or down depending on mitigating factors.

 

It then lists a lot of mitigating factors in LCCC's favour, but doesn't adjust the penalty.

 

Then in the next section, it then imposes a penalty of 8 points with no commentary or reason.

 

It actually looks like either the tribunal came to a decision of 16 points reduced to 8, but some muppet added these figures together, or it is just a completely corrupt judgement without basis intended to relegate us and keep Surrey safe, and done shamelessly as there will be no point appealing.

 

(Edited to add that closing the tabs, I've just seen the BBC is reporting it as a 27 point deduction. So that's another 3 points that I couldn't even find in the report...)

We got an extra 8pts (reduced from 16) in addition to the 19pts we got for winning the game. It's complete BS, the game lasted 4 days with almost 800runs scored.
