Indian Wells final goes to a deciding set.

Hopefully Norrie can win it from here!

And he storms through the final set 6-1!

Congratulations to Norrie, winning Indian Wells is something even Murray hasn't done.

Couldn't be up to watch it - But glad to see he won! :D  (Apparently I've been anaemic for a while, and It's going to take longer than two days for the (iron) tablets to do much :P It was just a co-incidence that the tiredness started after I had the first vaccine...  (Or was it? *X-files theme*))

Murray beats a top 10 player again at last - the man still has game.

Just came to post the same! Proving the doubters wrong (myself included). Honestly, I went to Queens this year expecting it would be my last opportunity to see him!

It has been slow, but he is getting back being competitive with the top players, I didn’t think it would ever happen. Coming through gruelling matches as well which is testing his general fitness

Hmmm

Strange to have sacked the coach that helped make you a grand slam champion… still don’t understand that decision. If it is working why change it so soon.

Federer saying he'll miss the Australian Open and is a doubt for Wimbledon with this knee injury.

No doubt he's been amazing, but he'll be 41 next August, just after the Wimbledon he's unlikely to play in. Maybe it's time to call it a day, can't stop the aging process.

I honestly don't think it was like that at all. They were saying all the way through the US hard court season that it was a temporary measure, and were speculating about who she would work with next. Apparently he didn't want to travel, but made an exception seeing she was coachless after parting ways with Nigel Sears (maybe that's the bigger story here that she stopped working with him, seeing what a high profile coach he is?).

Yeah, indeed. Although maybe he's looking at Andy Murray and getting inspiration from that. It seems odd though that he's looking as far ahead as Wimbledon and saying there's no hope, and it's not followed up by a retirement statement.

On a positive note (for the Brits), Cam Norrie will be coming in this evening to replace Tsitipas at the end of year tournament. Sad for Stef, but I am looking forward to seeing how Cam gets on.

Murray is 6 years Federers junior though.

Its only going to get harder for someone in their 40's to keep recovering from injuries. No matter how good they were. He's a had a very long and largely injury free career, has won almost everything he can, nothing to prove. I mean he has every right to carry on if he wants, I'm just not sure why he would if he can't get fit.

This is true. I forget how much younger Andy is than him. I always thought with Federer he was holding on for one last shot at getting olympic gold, so was really surprised that he didn't announce his retirement back in the summer.

Good, horrible little **** regardless of his vaccine status.

Shown his true colours throughout the pandemic, he's hidden behind being able to speak about 8 languages for years now as if it's some sort of charming characteristic.

Quite right too that he shouldn’t get special treatment .

Absolutely, considering the lockdown restrictions the Australians have had to abide by. Thinking specifically in terms of tennis, the Aussie players didn't get to go back home for a whole year, even those that were vaccinated, because they wouldn't have had time for the isolation period. Just because you are world number 1, it doesn't mean you get special dispensation.

Bellend

And he wonders why people don't hold him with the same regard as Federer and Rafa...
