Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Those odds suggest he is off. Great shame if true but the very best of luck to him.
CKB Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 (Slow motion, dramatic scene in film moment) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! (falls to the ground on his knees as it begins to rain) All the best CP! you will be missed till you do so well with Charlton we then poach you and you become our manager in 2012
RowlattsFox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 As much as I think the Powell love is well over the top, I do think he will be missed in the dressing room. Big opportunity for him, and a big challenge.
Wymsey Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 He did say he wanted to manage a club in a LM article about him. I predict he will have a good future.
Craig Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Though I'm gutted, I'm delighted for the guy. I'd always hoped he'd get his chance here, but if it's at Charlton, well... that's fantastic for him. They're another set of fans who adore him, with a side capable of gaining promotion. I just hope that one day he can go on to manage us in the Premiership.
ajthefox Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Gutted but you can't blame him for going if he does. Sincerely hope he does well and comes back here one day.
James_lcfc Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Always loved Chrissy P, will be a shame if he goes but like others have said it's a great opportunity for him and he should probably take if it's been offered. Charlton fans seem a bit undecided on him as manager; http://www.charltonlife.com/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=32249&page=6 He is currently first team coach at a major club who have the former England Manager and one of the most experienced managers in the game as boss MAJOR.
MPH Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Other than a prem team, there is only one club i could accept him leaving us for and thats charlton. Surely no one would resent him moving on to them? Fair play to him if he gets the job. I hope , for his sake, he does. He has earnt a crack at management. The only stumbling block to this would be himself.... does he think he is ready for it?
TheUltimateWinner Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Who's Logan gonna play with now ? I mean, Chris was his only friend! If true, then best of luck to you Chrissy P! Maybe sven could have a kick around with him??? & DONT GO CHRISSY Good luck whatever you decide
muzzieizzet Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 it would be a very sad day indeed, he's better than Charlton tho. CP is a legend.
The Doctor Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 - don't go chrissy. All the best to him if he does go, and hopefully he'll be back as manager of us someday.
Edmund Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 He'll become England manager one day, mark my words.
muzzy1981 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I think Chriss P should stay and learn from Svennis for a bit longer, not everyday you get to be a head coach alongside a manager who has one the double in three different countries and has the best England management record since Bobby Robson. Often the best managers have played or worked with other top managers: Ferguson = Bruce, Hughes, Clough = O'Neil = Grayson, Lennon Bobby Robson = Mourinho Doesn't quite work with yet with Chriss P.................Curbishley = Powell....................Sven = Powell....thats better!!!
samjohnson Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Would be sad to see him go, but I dont blame Charlton... He has a 100% win record when appointed as manager
Ford Super Sunday Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Charlton's kitman has tweeted this morning 'Sneeky feeling it won't be chris"grandad"powell's face I see 2day'
Darkon84 Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 i wouldnt give up hope of him staying yet. they are just odds, boookies change them or make them up just to generate interest sometimes. remember before sven came in, how o'neill was bang on favourite, even though he never had any intention of coming. at the same time, he was favourite for about 5 other jobs. i could understand if he left, because of his history etc, but im not giving up yet! STAY WITH US CHRISSY P!
MrSpaM Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Charlton's kitman has tweeted this morning 'Sneeky feeling it won't be chris"grandad"powell's face I see 2day' The kitman's going to be the first guy out the door if he does get appointed then!
VampLCFC Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Hope Crissy P doesn't go, seems like a real genuine guy that all the players look up to, will be a big blow to team morale
StanSP Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I'm still waiting for hbkkids's sequel to the Wellens video...
Alexikokopops Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Other than a prem team, there is only one club i could accept him leaving us for and thats charlton. Surely no one would resent him moving on What about Southend? He was voted their all time cult hero!
dave_the_fox Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I think we need a video similar to the "don't go richie wellens" one in the transfer talk thread Edit:Stan beat me to it
StanSP Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I'm still waiting for hbkkids's sequel to the Wellens video... I think we need a video similar to the "don't go richie wellens" one in the transfer talk thread Oi!
bluebeau Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Everythings been said really, we don't want you to go Chris, 'cos we loves you man! IMO he should have another season with City & Sven, then make a move into management as he is still in his 'apprenticeship'. I don't think he would be too tempted to leave...........but for Charlton I have a feeling he will go. Very best of luck to him if he does go & hope to see him back at City in the future.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Managerial training at Charlton - glory years at Leicester, I can see it now! Totally understandable if he goes to Charlton, I wish him all the best and hope the above happens to him.
Bryn Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 This is just fine, he can go Charlton, learn how to manage and come back to Leicester when SGE gets too old and gets bumped up to director of football
