The "do they mean us?" thread

Recommended Posts

Fair play to those supporters.

Talk sense and don't sound bitter, just speaking the truth. Rare to see, especially in football forums.

Has there ever been a topic on here where we've had more than 3 posts in a row of fans agreeing let alone a whole topic.

Mind you thinking about it, this place would be boring if we were like that.

I find the whole "those guys said nice things about us, they're great" business completely nauseating. There are like 12 posts on that QPR thread. It's hardly indicative of a whole fanbase.

We've got an active community of posters on here from other clubs, all of whom are incredibly polite, deprecating about their own clubs and very complimentary about ours. They are widely praised as "knowing their stuff" and being "great posters" but as much as the likes of Super_horns are good posters, they're welcomed because they're always nice about us.

Whenever anybody comes on with less than nice things to say they're chased off. It's the same on any forum. In advance of the Forest game there was a Leicester fan on there pointing out some absolutely ridiculous inaccuracies in the rantings of the Forest fans. He was shouted down. A Leicester fan went on there after the game and gave them some absolute guff about them being a great team who he hoped would get promoted and he was greeted with a load of comments like "glad to finally hear a sensible Leicester fan".

Same on the Watford forum, where there is this oddball Filbert character who seems to be playing the role of Uncle Tom, tickling the Watford fans' ballsacks to be welcomed and acknowledged as a knowledgeable fan, when in reality he is just pandering to their delusion.

RedHux is acknowledged as a good poster on here because he is eloquent and doesn't foam at the mouth when we mention Forest. But I wish, just once in a while, he would tell us the truth - that we have no idea what we're talking about and we should all just **** off!

I see what you're saying regarding the QPR thread not being representative of a whole fan base, but the reason people like Super_horns, RedHux, tartanowl etc. are welcomed here isn't so much that they always say nice things about our club, it's that they can engage in debate and offer points regarding their clubs without resorting to behaving like planks.

Dead right.

'I've always like Mick'

'Decent bloke and manager'

'I'd like him at the helm'

Bore off.

This is very true actually, but what I find even more frustrating is you often get a similar thing within the same set of fans. If you criticise a player or the club you're an idiot, but if you call them great you're praised.

It would be good if we could all accept criticism as long as it is well considered and argued.

Can't quite work out whether this stats site is a load of bollokkks or not, but it keeps saying good things about us. Latest is about Liam: http://www.squawka.com/news/2014/02/23/wins-more-headers-than-why-this/2014022373184

I do think he will be good in the Prem, if we get there.

Have to question the judgement.

Leicester look all but assured of one automatic promotion place, so it’s up to the clutter of teams following them to duke it out between them for the other and I feel QPR could be the team that books their place in the Premier League for next season, without the arduous journey through the play-offs to navigate.

Assessing Leicester City's Premier League Credentials

With 14 games remaining before the conclusion of the turbulent 2013/14 season, Leicester City find themselves a comfortable eight points clear at the top of the Sky Bet Championship. This is a dominance maintained in their impressive run of 13 league games unbeaten, and substantiates what many believe to be their imminent and overdue return to the top flight of English football. But how would this current Leicester City squad fare with the unforgiving pressure of the Barclay’s Premier League next season?

Recent encounters with Premier League opposition have provided Nigel Pearson with an awkward introduction to the realities of life in the world’s most competitive division. Having lost 3-1 to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup in December, swiftly followed by a 2-1 defeat to Stoke City in the FA Cup in January, Leicester City will be under no illusions as to the colossal task of adjusting to the intensity of the Premier League.

But it is not all entirely hopeless for a Leicester City side who have a healthy dose of Premier League pedigree permeating their ranks. Taking City’s squad from this weekend’s 3-0 victory over Ipswich at the King Power Stadium, they have undeniable quality throughout. Former Manchester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel anchors the Leicester rearguard with support from the likes of ex-Liverpool left back Paul Konchesky; players whose comprehensive experience undoubtedly nurtures the outstanding talent of younger stars such as England U21s Liam Moore.

City top scorer and target man David Nugent equally has a number of relatively successful Premier League seasons under his belt from his time with Portsmouth, as well as a brief moment of international recognition for England in the qualifying stages of Euro 2008. Such experience would invariably be a massive positive for a newly-promoted Leicester. But success would more significantly depend upon the continued success of key players such as Jamie Vardy and Anthony Knockaert, who though shine in the vigour of the Championship are as yet unproven in the higher echelons of the Premier League.

Indeed, it goes without saying that promotion would ultimately generate a significant level of income and subsequently instigate a high order of transfer activity as befitting of any team looking to adjust to a higher level of performance. Yet Leicester City have a great foundation of young players and more experienced veterans who have shown throughout the entirety of this season that they are capable of playing expressive, commanding, and, most significantly, winning football. Few teams in the Championship withhold the consistency and stability of a Leicester City who almost certainly have the ability to compete should they achieve the promotion they seemingly deserve.

You can't read too much into cup matches against Premier League sides, Sheffield United have beaten two, would they cope in the Premier League?

Too early to really start analysing, our squad will be changed during the summer.

A crap report yet again, starts off by basing his analysis on the team against Ipswich and then mentions Konch in the same sentence. Also doesn't mention the Fulham cup game.

They are struggling to cope in there own division lol lol lol

Cup games mean jack against prem sides as in most cases they play a weaker team anyway.

You can only beat what is infront of you on the day.

If we played a friendly against Bayern Munich and beat them it would not make us champions League winners.
