I agree with this.. AJ definitely isn't shit and he has lost to an elite fighter in Usyk. However, AJ is 31 and theoretically should be entering the first stages of his prime, rather than 'not getting any younger.' I think we've just seen what happens when someone who is incredibly physically gifted but only starts training at an older age goes up against someone who has lived and breathed boxing his entire life

AJ has been boxing since his mid teens

Dull, passive, mechanical and not even ring smart enough to use his size advantage well.

Pleased for Usyk, he boxed well and, on that evidence, he'd knock out Joshua in the next one. You can bank on Usyk learning more from that fight than Joshua which he'll put into play in the rematch.

Joshua will take the rematch, he's got nowhere else to go. Pointless fighting Fury as a challenger, he may as well line his pockets in a return with Usyk..

Hopefully, Joshua will never use the word legacy again.

I’d rather see any combination of Whyte / Usyk / Wilder than a rematch of AJ / Uysk if I’m honest.

A rematch would be OK if he went full on the other way, bulked up, got large, came back and tried to fully bulldoze the smaller guy.

If he's going to try and skilfully outbox him, he can try til the rapture, he's not going to win.

I good proportion of us knew this going into the fight. It’s almost like they’d never watched Uysk box. It was all very negative and ponderous, almost looking for an opening to catch him and knock him down. Isn’t Korobov the only fighter to have knocked him down? That was in the amateur days.

Trying to outbox one of the best pound for pound fighters on the planet wasn’t a smart decision by AJs team. I’m not sure what his corner we’re doing through the fight either, telling him he was going well etc.

One man 60 fights the other man over 300 fights ! And it showed

Was a great fight and Usyk never looked like he would go down no matter how hard he got hit.. can't see AJ beating him if there is a rematch.

Mentally Joshua is not as strong as he thinks soon as he gets caught a few times and realises the other guy ain't going down anytime soon he goes into panic mode.

AJ for a man with a very limited Boxing skill set has done amazing, he carries himself so so well and is an inspiration to so many Id hate for him to leave the stage on a double beating by a man he should be physically dominating, I think he will come with a hugely different game plan and will pile on 2 stone more for the next fight and instead of boxing a boxer he will try fight him, issue is I’m not sure he is much of a fighter AJ and has dedicated himself to being polished pugilist he needed to rough  USYK , needed to stay on the outside and box the ear off Him, issue was AJ couldn’t get his feet right (he usually doesn’t) and that made him a fairly easy big target for a master boxer to pick him off

expect A Huge AJ in the rematch and expect him to attempt to stand on USYK and blast him out of it inside 5 … it’s the heavyweights and that’s possible to achieve

but I fear the heart needed to do that has left AJ and his eyes are on being a business man and brand now, and that’s cool because he has earned that right

Fury v USYK is a hell off a battle but Fury is a boxing fighter , he is huge and can be dirty USYK won’t find that easy to master and I would expect a very comfortable night for Fury ….

I could be wrong but i am 80% sure he was 18 almost 19 when he took up boxing.

That is pretty late compared to most other professional boxers

I think he was in prison by that age. Drug dealing wasn’t it? He was a known boxer before that but I may have my timeline mixed up..

If he bulks up he gets stopped mid to late rounds he'll gas out and he knows it he's more than big enough currently to impose himself he just didn't do it size isn't all about weight if you're the bigger man regardless of weight you can lean on someone.

Good.

AJ found out AGAIN.

Hope that that's the end  of him and nice to see Hearn get owned too.

2 cocky tw@ts- feck off and enjoy your millions.

There goes Tyson V AJ!!!

Thats sport..!! AJ has hit and IMO earned those hights.

He might have Another contracted crack in him. If AJ still insists & has blind thoughts , Fury vs AJ has gone, as a serious event,

but assumes as a Fury Set up path  for Fury to to Take on the more belted champion after an all British headliner AJ last Pay day..Cloaked as a A Title-challenger bout. Though I Doubt Now that Fury because of Time is interested in an indirect path to Usyk.

After AJ vs Usyk contracted return, Fury has Belt holder, must be Next in line..

I actually agree with Peter Fury, which is quite rare for me....Joshua showed last night that he has improved.

That was the best display of Joshua's 'boxing skills' in his career, it's the exact kind of display that wouldn't have seen him KO'd against Ruiz, and the kind of display that would have got him far more comfortable wins against the likes Parker/Takam/Pulev etc.

The problem was, that it wasn't the kind of 'performance' needed, despite it arguably being the best performance of his career.

I said during the fight, that Usyk is a far far more accomplished fighter than Wladimir Klitschko ever was, during spars Usyk would unsurprisingly toy with Wlad.

Last night is exactly how a Wlad v Usyk fight would have looked, and ended.

The only way Joshua can beat a guy like Usyk, is by finishing the fight in the first 3/4 rounds, or damaging Usyk to the point he seriously slows down later on.

The current HW scene has a lot of interesting fights though, given the clash of styles....But I can't see anything other than Fury>Usyk>Wilder>Joshua.

AJ couldn't live with Fury, a bigger and stronger version of Usyk, and Wilder would be far too athletic for AJ to avoid being hit.

Well, I expected AJ to come out like Del Boy and try and beast him. Trying to outbox one of the best in the world seems like a foolish option lol

Its a shame Usyk isn't 3 or 4 inches taller. Him vs Fury would be an unbelievable fight

It didn’t even last 2 rounds but that was a good fight between Avanesyan v Taylor. Referee did well to step in & stop it when he did.

Avanesyan was relentless going forward.Very entertaining.

I don’t know if @Manwell Pablostill knocks about here - but it would be good to hear his view on what’s next for AJ

The rematch.  Which I can't see him winning unless he takes risks I don't think he has in him anymore.

You're welcome :D

I feel like AJs only hope is similar to Deontay Wilders chances against Fury. he’ll have to absolutely bum rush him from the bell and try finish it first round.

AJ has found a plan b since he lost to Ruiz, boxing from distance, a cautious approach, boxing to go 12 rnds (he has a poor gas tank).

He was never going to out box Usyk. It was a poor plan.

He needs to revert to the old Joshua, come out, be aggressive & go for the KO. He has 5/6 rnds to win the rematch, otherwise it's Usyk all the way.
