Father Ted Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 sad day for the city. Don't make me laugh. Best bit of business NP has done so far. Bamba is not suited to the Championship. I thank him for his efforts but everybody moves on and we can do much better.
Guest Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 We will continue to be an average championship side until this mentality is removed from Leicester.

I thank him for his efforts but everybody moves on and we can do much better. What? His best bit of business was getting Marshall because he's made a bit of impact and could be an important player next season. Selling a potentially very good centre back for less than he's worth is hardly a massive step towards promotion. Now if he got rid of players who were poisonous to the dressing room, such as Mills, that would be more significant.
dannythefox Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 I just wish for once we would get what someone is worth Bamba is worth more than 1M Euro imo all we seem to do is give our players away.
marko Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 We will continue to be an average championship side until this mentality is removed from Leicester. Err, with all due respect, this "mentality" took us close to the Premier League a couple of seasons ago, which is a damn sight closer than Sven got us with 4x the money. Nigel knows what he's doing.
Big Dave Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 I just wish for once we would get what someone is worth Bamba is worth more than 1M Euro imo all we seem to do is give our players away. A player is only worth what clubs are prepared to pay for them. I am sure that if other clubs were interested in Sol, they would have stepped forward by now. I will miss Sol - I loved watching him play. However I accept that our defence is not tight enough and none of the combinations that we used last year worked particularly well. I trust NFP to build a defence that will be much more solid than last year.

And I feel with some of them we could of got more which would of help our transfer fund but what will be will be.

And I'm not sure what point you're making about Sven - still you'd probably prefer hobbs in the team.

Compare what we offered for Maynard and the national debt.
Fox92 Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 Not really a fan of him, and glad he's leaving. Makes a lot of mistakes, but his pace usually makes up for it. Not that good in the air either, don't recall him scoring with his head for us. Prefer the more solid and comfortable defence that Nigel will build us, as he has done in his previous seasons here. Err, with all due respect, this "mentality" took us close to the Premier League a couple of seasons ago, which is a damn sight closer than Sven got us with 4x the money. Nigel knows what he's doing. Totally agree
Corky Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 For me: Moore - Morgan - De Laet - Konchesky is extremely solid. Don't forget we also have Kennedy covering left back, De Laet who can cover right back, St.Ledger who can cover centre-back and right-back. One more defensive minded signing and we are set. Do we really need 2 players for every position like Sven, not taking into account the capable academy players? I've also heard Matty James can play right back if needed? Sorry, Moore is solid compared to Peltier? Based on what exactly?

Well Hobbs played 40 league games in a defence that performed better than ours, so I don't think it would have been a bad thing. I think if anyone is overestimating, it's your good self overestimating Bamba's ability to be part of a well disciplined, cohesive back 5. EDIT: If Sol is this wonderfully gifted, technical defender, why did Hibs sell him for a meagre £250,000?! I think Sol's 'exciting play' masks some fundamental flaws in his general defensive awareness and ability.

I'm sure they could sign Hobbs, Mills or many other centre backs if they wanted. I guess they must be overestimating him too.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 so we're selling a player that played every minute of the AFCON, more than the likes of Toure? What a joke, especially at that fee
Guest Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 so we're selling a player that played every minute of the AFCON, more than the likes of Toure? What a joke, especially at that fee agreed. but you'd expect a player that good to be going to a champion's league team. Just surprused the city and so many supporters can't see it.

I'm sure they could sign Hobbs, Mills or many other centre backs if they wanted. I guess they must be overestimating him too. If they were that desperate i'm sure they'd have got a bit more than £250,000. They're hardly a competitive Champions League team are they?! They managed a whopping one win and went out of the Europa League in the first knock-out round. Lets see home many games he starts and see how well he performs against world class players before lauding him as a world beater.
TrentFox Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 Don't often feel such a sense of disappointment when players leave. Usually, either the relationship has soured, the player has lost form and/or confidence or they have performed admirably and we have 'cashed in'. Just don't really see any of that in this case.

If Sol has been underpriced then other clubs would've nipped in once alerted. Don't wish to be rude but have you ever managed a Championship football club ?? Just wondered why you seem to know more than Pearson.
marko Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 Don't wish to be rude but have you ever managed a Championship football club ?? Just wondered why you seem to know more than Pearson. Because he won the Champions League with Leicester on Football Manager.
Fox 4 Life Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 John Paintsil played every minute for Ghana, does that mean he should be playing for a champs league team - how did he with out for us? I don't understand how people can constantly talk about potential and coaching - he is 26 and up until we signed him for 250k he was playing for HIBS! He has been great at times for us but some people seriously overrate him

Have you ever managed a Champions League club? Just wondered why you seem to know more than the manager of Trabzonspor...
davieG Posted 5 June 2012 Posted 5 June 2012 It matters not as it looks like he's on his way, another here today gone tomorrow player that illustrates just how messed up the management and player acquisition strategy is at LCFC.
