Dan Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 £800k is shite really I was hoping for double that. I can understand people being disappointed with this move in fairness - more than I can the likes of Mills, Beckford and Vassell, as he does have his great games. But ultimately if he's not Pearson's type of defender, and lets not forget Pearson IS capable of building good defences, then it's probably for the best. Wish him all the best though, fans favourite from the word go, FLAIR, and he could go on to do well. Shame he's moving to an absolute farce of a league but hey ho. We move on.
foxesfan1989 Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I will miss Sol Sol Bamba if he goes. Not just because his name is fun to chant. He shows at times that he can be a rock at the back. If he manages to cut out the silly errors on the ball then he could be a premier league defender.
Corky Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 I'll miss him, when he put his mind to it he was excellent. He had his mad moments but I doubt he was any more inconsistent than the rest. At least, with this move, we won't get people who slagged him off and said he wasn't good enough criticising the club for selling him to a rival in our division, like with Campbell.
Jaspa Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Could've gone down as a great But we have sold out far more than Sol Bamba in the last 12months Wish him a long and prosperous career Sol

Again, where does it say that £800k will be the FINAL, agreed fee. I would bet that we'll get at least £1m + add-ons.
KFS Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 When Sol joined he was a breath of fresh air. He scored with his first touch in English football and he looked great against a good Manchester City side. However, as he got settled his performances started to deteriorate. I will always remember this performance, granted it is against this seasons Champions League winners, but just have a look at Sol's performance here. I think it highlights some of his issues as a defender in the Football League. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf-Vd7aLPbk Goal 1: Outjumped Goal 2: Casually jogging back Goal 3: Completely opened up by Meireles Goal 5: Laughable I know we were outplayed that day against quality opposition, but you can see here that Sol has traits where he almost tries to save the day a little too much. Mix all that in with some step overs and advanced runs and you have our Sol. No doubt this post will receive some criticism, but it is time for Sol to leave. Thanks for bringing some light over our club with your personality, Sol, but you can't defend for shlt!

Thanks for bringing some light over our club with your personality, Sol, but you can't defend for shlt! I think that's because you realise how daft it is. Many good PL defenders will have been made to look rubbish against a team that's had over £200m spent on it, including a £50m striker. I'm disappointed with the reported fee but I fully understand why Nigel is moving him on. You need reliable CBs in this division who perform week in, week out and he isn't.

Or that there is an incredible amount of criticism on this board? In regard to good PL defenders, aren't we looking for players who can eventually achieve that standard? Those were the words of the board who brought Bamba in anyway. I already said that they are Champions League winners and that we were outplayed, but looking back on how he performed, they are simple mistakes that you didn't see Morgan making, by your definition, that is what we need. Anyway, it's not like he made mistakes in the Chelsea game alone, he consistently remains out of position and pulls of ridiculously stupid moves in the Championship.
Jobyfox Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 People keep saying that he's not a Pearson type of player. Yet Pearson kept picking him when other options were available. Is it not possible that these Turks have offered him a lot of money in wages and he and his agent have said: " yes please"?
Les-TA-Jon Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Shame to see him go. Easily one of the most likeable characters to be at the club for years. One of the most entertaining players here for ages. I've always loved to watch him play. His mad moments actually rarely directly lead to goals conceded - and added to the madness of being a LCFC supporter. Will always remember the goal against Man City, the two bungled goals against Millwall and his "go-go gadget legs" Plays with a genuine smile and love for the games and the fans. Simply put: An entertaining player to watch.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Will always remember him, got a photo with him in Club Republic too. If he leaves at least I'll have met him, been one of my favourite players for the past year and a half. SOL SOL BAMBA

We were warned by the Hibs fans that he has his head turned very easily so maybe this move (if it happens) is down to him and his agent.
Steve Agnew Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 The only player we have with the potential to play for a big European Club. Would not be surprised to see him move on for 10 times this fee within the next couple of seasons. Lets hope these people slating him don't moan like they did with Max Gradel!

leicesterisme Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Cant say I'm massively dissapointed about this from a footballing point of view. Will miss him at the back though, entertainment value he was 10/10. A great way to start his career with us aswell against City. Wish him all the best.
Guest Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 terrible terrible news and the fee is a joke. what we bought him for is irrelevant. If Mills is between 3m and 5m (over the last year or so). Bamba should be at least 5m. Wew isn't as good and he cost us more. I'm sure this is simply to reduce the wage bill but very short-sighted. My hopes of promotion next season have taken a severe dive with this news, even if NP can bring in a couple of better defenders he'd still be the type of back up we need and tbh I don't think we'll be getting any better defender in than him. boring boring Leicester.
Bettsj2 Posted 1 June 2012 Posted 1 June 2012 Bye Sol you massive bag of shit. So relieved I dont have to listen to his weird accent anymore. Crap bastard. When he first came here I thought he'd turn out to be a legend. As time went on though he became more and more of a joke. People saying in a couple of years they can see him playing for a top European side?? What when Sol Bambas 30, all of a sudden Jose Mourinho will think to himself, 'what my teams have been missing for all these years is a risk taking centre back. Where can I find such a man?' **** off people. He's a joke with a good name for the terraces nothing more. For every Cruyff turn he's done, he's been out thought, out played and out jumped by the most average strikers that fill the Championship. We bought him from Hibs for £250k. That was what he was worth. Now people are saying, '£1m?? Taint enuff'. He is no way 4 times the player we bought so if £1m is on the table then dont just snap their hands off, eat the whole ****ing arm.
