Sol Bamba to Trabzonspor?

To be fair, if Bamba was 17 and had his kind of ability he'd be at one of the worlds top sides, as I fully agree he's got some genuine top quality attributes, he is also let down by some League Two ones.

We have some fools who post. 17! He'd be worth millions and millions.

Why on earth is 27 too old to be coached into being a better footballer?

Are you suggesting that players shouldn't be coached after this age because they have 'learnt all they are going to learn'? If so, what's the point of coaches?

I was trying to make the point that Sol is almost there as a good defender. He doesn't need any further input regarding his strength, his stamina, his self confidence.

What he does need, at least from what I see, is intensive coaching regarding his positional awareness and his understanding of his centre back partnership, whomever that be with.

At 27 years old surely this is something which can be achieved?

Many top players assert that they never stop learning the game.

I guess what I'm saying is that I see real potential in Bamba as a top defender in this division. He isn't far off with the correct input.

Since when has Leicester City shown any signs of improving any player at senior level? In principle there's no reason anyone should be incapable of learning until the day they die but I've seen absolutely no signs of it happening. In fact, some players seem to get worse. Gradel went backwards, King's done the same, Peltier's another, Mills went backwards, Bamba shone briefly and faded, Schlupp was hardly seen, Gallagher remained Gallagher, the list goes on and on and with very few highlights even if I'm generous..

King's done the same

How so? He's improved every year until this season and he's not started as regularly this year.

errrr .... because he lost his place due to not being good enough..

My point was that he's a player we've improved at senior level. Which was what he was talking about.

I forgot about that long term injury he had too.

As much as I love Sol, he isn't a Pearson player, so selling for a healthy profit is ok by me.

This. At the end of the day, he's going to work under the manager and if he isnt his sort of player then fair enough. Having said that I think all of Sven's signings are not Pearson's type of players, apart from Kasper, Nugent and Danns - they're team players and they show that. Oh and have we Sold Bamba yet? Couldn't resist..,

Leicester City's Sol Bamba is close to a move to Trabzonspor, according to the Turkish club

The vice-president of Trabzonspor is confident a deal can be done for the Ivory Coast international.

Nevzat Sakar has been widely quoted in the Turkish media saying his club are in advanced talks with City over the transfer.

He is quoted as saying: "We need to talk with his club. There is still minor financial details.

"But these are not insurmountable and unsolvable problems.

"Over the next week, we can announce the transfer to be perfect."

Bamba was linked with a move to Turkey a week ago but this is the first time a senior figure at Trabzonspor has confirmed their interest.

City are understood to want "a sizeable fee" for him.

Sakar's comments certainly indicate that Bamba could be edging closer to the King Power exit door, just 18 months since he joined the club from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian in a deal worth £250,000.

Reports in Turkey state that the deal will be worth one million euros (£800,000) and Bamba will sign a four-year contract, indicating that terms have been agreed.

Fellow central defender Matt Mills also looks certain to be leaving the club with Scottish champions Celtic in pole position to sign him, although their initial offer which included a swap deal involving Kelvin Wilson has been rejected. City have asked for a cash deal and want £3 million.

Regardless of whether an agreement is reached for either Bamba or Mills, City are in the market to sign another central defender and Hull City's James Chester is Nigel Pearson's preferred choice.

Bit disappointed about the fee we are getting £800,000 that is hardly a lot of money yes it is profit of £550K but I thought it would upwards of £1m ,but if it goes towards getting Chester than I guess it will be worth it.

I really hope we dont end up regretting this.

We're all entitled to our opinions but this guy without doubt is a quality defender, or he certainly has all the attributes to be.

His strength and pace are massive assets which come in handy. However, i appreciate he's a bomb scare at times which has probably cost him.

Hopefully NP will being in a quality defender to replace him and we'll all be happy. With NP's track record of CB's i do have some confidence in him

He's an entertainer and having someone who brings a smile to your face and hope in your heart is always good to have in the team unfortunately entertainment now comes way down the list of what most people want to see, it's win at all costs even regular turgid, boring performances provided it results in 3 points.

Disappointed, poor fee for him aswell

We don't know that 1 million euros / £800k will be the finally agreed fee (that would probably have been Trabzonspor's INITIAL bid). I wouldn't be surprised if City try to push it up beyond £1m - and add-ons etc

Pearson is a stubborn old sod... Bamba, it would appear, is not his 'type' of defender... I would guess, and its only a guess, that Millsy and Beckford may follow

First time I read it it made out his contract was a million a year which would be 20,000 a week cant see Leicester selling him for less then 1mil.

What happened to the £2.5m that he was valued at in January?

Agree, cant imagine us selling him for less than 1.5 mil or so as was mentioned earlier

That's probably the minor financial thing their bloke was on about. We want more money.
