Yeh one of the baby squad did die. Kevin Moore died of a heart attack in Thurnby. His funeral was on 27th July my dad went as he used to work with. Apparently there was going to be about a 100 of them going up to cause a bit of trouble.

Blackburn's game against NEC Nijmegen off after 'riots'

Blackburn's pre-season friendly with Dutch club NEC Nijmegen on Sunday afternoon has been cancelled because of the threat of fan violence.

The decision came after claims that Rovers fans had been involved in disturbances with rival supporters.

A statement on the Dutch Police website www.politie.nl said: "Supporters of Blackburn Rovers were involved in rioting in Deventer on Friday.

"On Saturday there was a confrontation with supporters of NEC Nijmegen."

The statement added: "The deputy mayor of Nijmegen has decided to cancel the exhibition game between NEC and Blackburn Rovers. That match was due to be played today at 2.30pm during the annual open day of NEC.

"On the basis of serious signals to the police that a confrontation would take place again today, deputy mayor Henk Beerten, in consultation with police, judiciary and mayor Hubert Bruls, decided to cancel the match this afternoon.

"Today, 8,000 visitors are expected at the open day of NEC which starts at 12.30pm, including many families with children.

"With the serious threat of unrest in the Goffertpark around the exhibition game, it is not sensible to play this game today."

Blackburn issued a statement on their website, which read: "Both clubs wish to express their disappointment that such a decision has been necessary."

The match with NEC Nijmegen was meant to be Blackburn's second game in three days in Holland after they had lost 4-2 against Go Ahead Eagles in another friendly on Friday.

Same thing happened with Blackburn, except in a different country

I am willing to believe they are not true fans. Why? Because if Leicester City didn't exist they would still find an excuse to portray this anti-social behaviour. They go to away games and arrive 5 minutes after kick off because they've stayed in the pub consuming loads of alchohol, leave early if Leicester are loosing to presumably return to the pub. This is not a true supporter in my eyes.

This pretty much sums up my time as a supporter yet I've NEVER got into a fight before, during or after a City game... I also had a season ticket for over a decade and still follow home and away as much as I can... I went to the open training session and took my two year old daughter buying her a shirt and teaching her all about Leicester in the process, I even have a foxes head incorporated into my tattoo sleeve...

Yet after all this cause I like a beer and to nip off early in your eyes in not a fan... Tosser!

You wouldn't need turnstiles just open the gate?

Coppers tried that one a few years ago at a Liverpool v Forest game... It ended badly and we all had to sit down!!!! *face slap*

I can't believe the story just below that. Just round the corner from me! A nice area too.

My mates cousin(the one the family disowned) burgled a house and left his wallet inside which had his driving licence in.Still laugh about that if I ever see him about.Thats when he is not banged up.

A message from the Lincoln City board on behalf of the friendly: http://www.redimps.co.uk/news/article/120806-board-statement-294030.aspx

The Board Of Directors have issued the following statement following the cancellation of the Leicester City friendly:

The Football Club Board was extremely saddened and frustrated by the need to cancel last Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Leicester City.

We share the disappointment of those good and loyal supporters of both clubs who were denied the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon’s football. A young man taking his first steps in the professional game was also let down because he lost the opportunity to sign his professional papers in front of a bumper Sincil Bank crowd.

We were frustrated that, after a close season in which the Club’s staff and Board and its supporters and their representative groups have worked so hard to raise the funds needed to stabilise our financial position, we have lost around £30,000 from the cancellation.

We were also frustrated that two groups who mistakenly believe supporting a football club requires them to fight can inflict so much damage on our club and spoil so many people’s enjoyment.

The Football Club and Lincolnshire Police have an excellent working relationship in which we ensure public safety remains paramount but are able to usually achieve this without high costs falling on the Club. The nature of the intelligence presented to us by the police on Friday afternoon left us in no doubt that the game had to be postponed. It was clear that groups of trouble-makers from Leicester and Lincoln had arranged to meet in our city and that serious public disorder was a real risk.

We view all disorder seriously and the fact that the intelligence suggested that trouble was going to be outside the ground made no difference to our approach. Lincoln City FC should not and will not be associated with any form of violence whether it’s in the ground or outside it.

Regrettably our prompt action did not prevent a large number of people from Leicester and Lincoln gathering in the city centre on Saturday afternoon, requiring Lincolnshire Police to have a large presence.

That the two groups were still intent on causing problems when there was no match to watch demonstrates that whilst football is used as an excuse for their unacceptable and unwanted behaviour, football is not the reason.

Unfortunately for far too many years small groups of people have attached themselves to the Club for the wrong reasons and have spoiled things for the fans who continue to back the Club through thick and thin. The Board of Directors wants to thank these loyal fans for their support and patience at times like this and condemns unreservedly the behaviour of the troublesome minority. We also want you to know the extent of the financial damage this has caused.

In addition to the loss of some £30,000 revenue from Saturday’s game we had already been forced to decline another high-profile pre-season fixture that would have brought in a similar amount due to concerns about public disorder. That is around £60,000 lost, along with two matches our supporters would have enjoyed.

Last season policing costs directly related to people trying to create public disorder ran to a five-figure sum and over the years their antics have cost our club a six-figure amount.

We had invited a large number of business guests to view the new T&R VIP Club on Saturday in the hope of securing more income for the Club. We had also been close to arranging a visit by potential overseas investors to be our guests at the game. Thankfully that visit is now taking place in the next few weeks otherwise the actions of this group of people could have had even greater financial consequences.

The Board of Directors believe that in maintaining the ethos of a community club individuals intent on causing disorder should have no part in supporting our club. Working with Lincolnshire Police we will be looking at all available options to ensure that this aim can be implemented.

Paul Moore wasn't it?

shame, hopefully it can be rearranged at some point. the fact they still needed a large police presence in town anyway, suggests they should have just gone ahead with the match regardless. although cancellation the night before may have been prompt in terms of the time it took after receiving the info; it was still last minute in the grand scheme of things.

Beating up a person is one thing, but a train is another. Ive hung around a few football hooligans and I've always noted that their slimy fingers and strange smelling breath is the direct result of molestation

When I die, I hope my buddies wreck a train in my memory. There really is no better way for a gentleman to pay his respects to a dead friend than that.

Young just said on the radio that he spoke to an officer who confirmed a bit of trouble on Saturday night. Not sure if Leicester-related though?

Bottom line is the troublemakers won.

There's always trouble in Lincoln. With the police attitude on this, they should ban all away supporters in the league etc .
