Standard and quality of referees in the Npower Championship

I just find it astonishing how, as the home team, we get so many decisions go against us. People can say today's ref was one of the worst but I've seen plenty like this. The year we were relegated they were like this every week.

I'm not saying he cost us the game; we played badly, but that doesn't excuse him.

Even during the winning run we've had a lot of poor refs, its just when we lose people are obviously more vocal on it.

Todays was disgraceful which i expected from him. I honestly think he has something against LCFC.

Standard of officiating in this league is very poor.

These things even themselves out.

Vardy could easily have seen red for that challenge first half, both sides had shouts for penalties turned down, he was a bit off today but to the detriment of both sides. Lest we forget he relies on his assistants and they gave him little assistance.

The referee today was terrible, he denied us one of the most blatant handballs on the line I've ever seen. He also turned down an indentical one to the penalty we conceded against Brighton.

Not too annoyed because Palace deserved the win anyway, but shocking shocking ref.

Without seeing any highlights I don't think it was handball and for the second one, though it was more of a penalty than brightons I don't think either were. I do agree that the ref was poor in other aspects of the game giving decisions were I didn't see any foul, and the linesmen were poor as well.

certainly is a lack of standards between the prem and the champ in my view. 1 week we can get a decent ref(dont ask me the last time we did....i think it was Halsey)

alot of the officials seem to have double standards...like today...whitbread handball on the edge of the area(near there fans) given by the linesmen....then when we get a clear handball on the line the linesmen misses it and so does the official.

Certainly have to say tho, the set of officials we had today is probably the worse I've seen as a LCFC fan.

I hope video technology comes in well it has but the incompetence of the FA/FIFA to implement it will take another 100 years! just a time of reflection so the officials can see their mistakes and award the right decisions but this will never happen.

What a blatant handball! I still can't believe that was missed by the officials!! I have no doubt we would have got at least a point should the ref/linesman done their job and gave a pen and sent the player off!! How was it not given??!!

That is an absolute disgrace.

There should be an inquiry about the handball on the line. How three officials could all miss it is difficult to rationalise. And really, if the referee's saying he was unsighted or giving some other excuse for not giving a straightforward penalty for hands then let's hear it and get the chance to understand his apparent incompetence...or worse.

It's as if we've got an unseen handicap from the football authorities. The incident is no way debatable or difficult to see. So what do the referee and his assistants have to say?. And if they've nothing convincing to say then I'd like to know on what basis thy consider themselves worthy of being Football League officials.

But it's not just the one incident. There should be proper examination of their entire performance. An important part of any official's job IS to see things and to officiate fairly.

This didn't seem to be the case on Saturday. Yes, we deserved to lose. But no, we didn't deserve to have blatant infringements ignored, not seen or misinterpreted.

Bottom line is there is a secret agenda against us.

Yes we probably deserved to lose on that performance but the decisions against us would have seen us through to a draw at least had they been correctly given.

So in my book that's three points at Blackburn and now one after yesterday's game dropped thanks to shocking refereeing decisions.

But, after competent performances for at least the last eight, do we consider ourselves fortunate or is there something else we're missing here?

If the ref and linesman cannot do their job get video technology running asap that would at least be able to review their decisions so they can see clearly their mistakes it is so simple yet nothing is ever done.

I'm not going down the road of saying the ref cost us the match yesterday but the general standard of the the three officials yesterday was in my opinion one of the most incompetent displays, further coupled with arrogance that I have witnessed.

The FA ask / demand 'Respect'. They chastise players, managers etc saying that they bring the game into disrepute.

Well, to my mind, whilst the FA seem to bury their heads in the sand and fail to even acknowledge that this is something that they must needs address, then there is no one more guilty of bringing the game into disrepute than the FA themseves.

kinda reminds me of a really crap volleyball shot

still dont know how the officials missed it

There is no excuse whatsoever for missing that. At the time I thought it was unreal but seeing it again its surreal.

We didn't lose on Saturday because of the Ref. First 30 minutes we weren't clinical enough, and couldn't handle Palace's big lads. However, the not given handball, was a massive moment. If that's a penalty and he's sent off, then we're on the front foot. The 3 officials were terrible. My conclusion is that the ref perhaps wasn't watching the match most of the time, because he certainly wasn't watching the same game as me!

We did lose the game because of the ref. This and the fact that we weren't good enough on the day. Fact of the matter is the result may well have been a draw had the officials done their job properly.

All well and good to lose the game through being totally outplayed coupled with an anonymous referee, but that decision together with many more bizarre decisions makes this all the more frustrating because despite our poor play on the day, we were good for a point IMO.
