Jordan Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 What's with you and defending Italy then? It's a very common perception that all this diving charade was mastered and perfected by the Italians throughout the 90s and 00s.Whether Italians are or are not as accomplished divers and fakers as others is not clear. One art they have mastered, though, is remonstrating with referees with hand gestures and irascible emotion.
21st Century Fox Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 There's a big Italian community here in South Wales, I happen to be a part of that.
OzFox Posted 16 June 2013 Posted 16 June 2013 Match fixing goes on at club level and you were talking about how the national team dive and cheat their way through games - that's never been the case. never eh? That's a bold statement. The game I saw was in 98, the final in '06 was littered with dives (from both teams) and then there was that swallow dive from de Rossi last time around.
Amin Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Jordan 1-0 Oman. Fantastic result for Jordan, now they will face Uzbekistan in the playoffs.
Kitchandro Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Jordan 1-0 Oman. Fantastic result for Jordan, now they will face Uzbekistan in the playoffs. Will one of Jordan and Uzbekistan qualify then or is there more than one round?
isaidno Posted 18 June 2013 Posted 18 June 2013 Will one of Jordan and Uzbekistan qualify then or is there more than one round? Play the 5th place team in south America, most likely Uruguay. Uzbekistan were unlucky not to qualify. They needed to score six past Qatar and scored 5, so lost out to Korea on goal difference by 1 goal.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 Has anyone else noticed how USA and Australia have more passionate home fans than England? Maybe it's because they play their matches all around the country and we always play at Wembley. It mainly seems to be families and casual type fans who are at Wembley for England games. What happened to these fans? http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Yr__-KqnfQM http://www.youtube.c...h?v=eWBR_W1gKDw Hopefully they'll be back for the Scotland game in August.

We have wasted nearly £1bn on a national stadium. Therefore we are not going to go on a roadshow. Remember that USA and Oz are slightly bigger countries so it makes more sense for them to play all round their country.
Jordan Posted 19 June 2013 Posted 19 June 2013 Yesterday couldn't have worked out any better: USA win again and consolidate their spot on top of the CONCACAF standings, and I win a do-or-die vs Oman to sneak into the AFC 5th round playoff and keep my World Cup dream alive. Speaking of Uzbekistan, they do punch above their weight a bit and have been unlucky in the past. But how poor did Qatar look yesterday?
shen Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Swiss club football might be on a high, but the national team surrendering a 4-1 lead against Iceland at home... ? Having said that, Denmark are still struggling like never before, only just scraping by Malta by virtue of a very fortuitous goal. Malta were much more dangerous throughout. If we play like this against Armenia on Tuesday, who have the strangest sequence of results I've seen in international football for a while (0-1 loss vs Malta, 0-4 win vs Denmark and 1-2 win vs Czech Rep), we'll face another embarrassment.

Is Kasper often involved? Is he mostly backup?

Guest MattP Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Lets face it the USA qualifying is a piece of piss. Under the current system if the Us or Mexico fail to quality the manager should be sent to 20 years hard labour. Utter disaster for the Irish tonight, need to win im Germany now just to stand a play off chance.
shen Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Is Kasper often involved? Is he mostly backup? Yeah, he's probably second choice right now. Although, if Stephan Andersen doesn't start to get regular football (which is odd given his flawless performances for Betis so far), Olsen might be tempted to give Kasper a chance. Andersen didn't look convincing for Malta's goal today and had a torrid time against Armenia last time out. Having said that, Olsen is old school and it takes A LOT for him to reconsider the goalie position, which was proven during the period where Lindegaard was first choice at Man Utd, but Olsen still persisted with Andersen despite not getting football at Evian. Same when Sørensen was deemed as backup at Stoke, he still retained his first team spot for Denmark for about a year before an injury let Andersen into the team, an opportunity which he seized.
ScouseFox Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Imagine being Welsh. Losing to Macedonia and then scrolling down a bit and seeing your next generation u21s lost to San Marino hahahahahha

ScouseFox Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 San Marino under 21's? I cant even begin to imagine how bad they would be. The answer is a goal better than their Welsh counterparts

Samilktray Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Just sat and watched the Croatia vs Serbia game in a bar in Croatia, which was an experience.
MC Prussian Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 4-4 against Iceland, after being 4-1 up...
bovril Posted 6 September 2013 Posted 6 September 2013 Italy did their usual jammy 1-0 against the Bulgars to all but qualify. Interesting battle between Bulgaria (10pts), Armenia, Denmark and Czechs (all 9) for the playoff spot.
