Schmeichel to go then?

Recommended Posts

Good keeper. Prem standard? probabaly, but the standard of keepers in that league is unreal. Most clubs have 2 outstanding goalkeepers. I'd say it's the strongest position in the league depth-wise. Hope he stays, think he might (for a year).

I think that's crossing it too far, the amount of times he has kept us in games, this season and the last is incredible

Recently yes.

But before our slump I thought Kasper was pretty poor. We conceded the fewest shots on goal in the division throughout two thirds of the season but the few we did he was letting in, whilst our opponent's keeper after keeper made world class save after world class save.

Recently he's improved to be a good shot stopper, nothing more.

He's woeful at crosses & key reason we've conceded so many corners etc.

Not fussed if he stays, there's much better in this division.

His hype because of his surname may ensure we get a good fee & can strengthen all over.

I said this in a different thread but surely if Schmeichel was prem quality he'd be there by now. He couldn't hack it at Man City and he is still suspect in a few areas of his game, his kicking is poor, he is too hot headed and from crosses he can get caught out.

Seem to remember he had a fantastic spell in the first team there when Isaksson and Hart were injured. Eriksson went with Hart once he was back and I think it was a ballsy decision to go down three divisions to get first team football which he rightly needed. Wouldn't say he couldn't hack it, there was just a better keeper who was just as young as he was.

Ah right, knew Hart and Isaksson were there too but thought he got dropped because his performances were poor, not because of Hart

No major exodus of players in my opinion , if they were that great I wouldn't be feeling so LOW now so I expect most to stay.

Happy with our team which has many up and coming young players in it. A couple of additions and lets get up in an automatic place next season.

I'm Low but proud of my city and team.

You're joking right? The first was an utter pearler, no keeper is getting near that.

Yes they would of. It wasn't in the corner or hit massively hard. It was spontanteous and Kasper didn't respond to it. I think all 3 goals were soft to concede.

Son, you're talking to a keeper - it's a well placed snap shot from close range, no keeper at this level would get near it.

Best keeper since walker by far, possibly longer. If people think he i overrated and want / wouldn't be fussed if he went, do you really want some dross keeper yet again?, let me give you some examples of keepers we've had in my memorable life-time. Weale, Martin, Douglas, Casino Jimmy, Pressman, Henderson, Warner, Ricardo, Ikemi, Alnwick, Bunn, Stockdale, Logan, None of whom were close to Kasper's ability.

I'm a keeper also.. I'm not trying to say it wasn't a good finish, but, in my opinion, a premiership standard keeper would have saved that. Kasper is far from Prem class. Everything today from his performance proves he is no where near prem class.

Agree with those saying where would he go? All I can think of is Southampton or maybe Norwich, although they've got Ruddy. Everyone else has a first choice keeper who's better and he won't want to be on the bench.

If he does go I can't think who to replace him with though, can't think of many decent options that would be available for cheap.

Luke Steele, Free Transfer

Or Simon Moore from Brentford

Is this the same Kasper schmeichel who was voted by his fellow professional players to be in the team of the year? In other words.. better than every other GK in the championship?

We lose in the play off semi finals and now he is very over rated. lol

People remember the fewq that he could/should of saved and forget the absolute blinding saves he has pulled out of the bag of plenty on occasions this season.

And just to emphasize this again... The very people who played on the same pitch as him every week voted him the best GK in the league. Pretty much every player  in the Champ team of the year could get in one of the prem teams.. even if its a newly promoted team....
