sdb Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Good keeper. Prem standard? probabaly, but the standard of keepers in that league is unreal. Most clubs have 2 outstanding goalkeepers. I'd say it's the strongest position in the league depth-wise. Hope he stays, think he might (for a year).
Vlad the Fox Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Why do people think there will be a mass exodus of players? We're not in a position where we have to sell, any players who the management want for next season and are in contract will still be here next season. cc_star Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 I think that's crossing it too far, the amount of times he has kept us in games, this season and the last is incredibleRecently yes.But before our slump I thought Kasper was pretty poor. We conceded the fewest shots on goal in the division throughout two thirds of the season but the few we did he was letting in, whilst our opponent's keeper after keeper made world class save after world class save. Recently he's improved to be a good shot stopper, nothing more. He's woeful at crosses & key reason we've conceded so many corners etc. Not fussed if he stays, there's much better in this division. His hype because of his surname may ensure we get a good fee & can strengthen all over.

shen Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 I said this in a different thread but surely if Schmeichel was prem quality he'd be there by now. He couldn't hack it at Man City and he is still suspect in a few areas of his game, his kicking is poor, he is too hot headed and from crosses he can get caught out. Seem to remember he had a fantastic spell in the first team there when Isaksson and Hart were injured. Eriksson went with Hart once he was back and I think it was a ballsy decision to go down three divisions to get first team football which he rightly needed. Wouldn't say he couldn't hack it, there was just a better keeper who was just as young as he was.

Foxfromburbage Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 No major exodus of players in my opinion , if they were that great I wouldn't be feeling so LOW now so I expect most to stay. Happy with our team which has many up and coming young players in it. A couple of additions and lets get up in an automatic place next season. I'm Low but proud of my city and team. The Doctor Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Today for me, he could/should have saved or done better with all 3 goals. A prem keeper would have. You're joking right? The first was an utter pearler, no keeper is getting near that.
whitlock Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 You're joking right? The first was an utter pearler, no keeper is getting near that. Yes they would of. It wasn't in the corner or hit massively hard. It was spontanteous and Kasper didn't respond to it. I think all 3 goals were soft to concede. stevelcfc Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Best keeper since walker by far, possibly longer. If people think he i overrated and want / wouldn't be fussed if he went, do you really want some dross keeper yet again?, let me give you some examples of keepers we've had in my memorable life-time. Weale, Martin, Douglas, Casino Jimmy, Pressman, Henderson, Warner, Ricardo, Ikemi, Alnwick, Bunn, Stockdale, Logan, None of whom were close to Kasper's ability. whitlock Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 I'm a keeper also.. I'm not trying to say it wasn't a good finish, but, in my opinion, a premiership standard keeper would have saved that. Kasper is far from Prem class. Everything today from his performance proves he is no where near prem class.
iamafox Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 If Kasper does go, we must have a suitable replacement lined up. Logan isn't good enough to be our first-choice keeper IMO.
hesapeepingtom Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 kaspar the hoof schmeichel! good shot stopper thats about it! 9 times out of 10 his upfield hoofs give away position! i dont get it!
teblin Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Decent keeper, the best we have had since walker. Though I think the club may have to sell some players. Kasper will be on a good wage and we could get £2 million for him.
ealingfox Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Genuinely can't see who would come in for him at the moment, he likes it with us too. Can definitely see him here next season.

ScouseFox Posted 12 May 2013 Share Posted 12 May 2013 Agree with those saying where would he go? All I can think of is Southampton or maybe Norwich, although they've got Ruddy. Everyone else has a first choice keeper who's better and he won't want to be on the bench. If he does go I can't think who to replace him with though, can't think of many decent options that would be available for cheap.

MPH Posted 13 May 2013 Share Posted 13 May 2013 Is this the same Kasper schmeichel who was voted by his fellow professional players to be in the team of the year? In other words.. better than every other GK in the championship? We lose in the play off semi finals and now he is very over rated. People remember the fewq that he could/should of saved and forget the absolute blinding saves he has pulled out of the bag of plenty on occasions this season. And just to emphasize this again... The very people who played on the same pitch as him every week voted him the best GK in the league. Pretty much every player in the Champ team of the year could get in one of the prem teams.. even if its a newly promoted team....
