Happy Fox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 http://www.ntfc.co.uk/news/article/blyth-signs-980216.aspx Northampton Town have signed Leicester City striker Jacob Blyth on a month's loan. Blyth, who turns 21 next week, began his career with prolific spells for a number of non-league clubs. In May 2012 he was signed by Leicester City from Leamington for an undisclosed fee. After scoring 6 goals in 11 appearances for the club's Under 21 Development Squad, he had loan spells at Burton Albion and Notts County in 2012/13. Last season he was the top scorer for Leicester City's Development Squad and signed a new contract with the Foxes in May 2013. "We watch a lot of football at all levels and Jacob is a player I have tracked for a few years," said Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd. "I think he will come in and do us a good turn. He is a good finisher, as his record at non-league level and in Leicester's Development Squad has proved. He is good in the air, he can hold the ball up and he is keen to do well. "All round he is a good footballer and I am pleased we have been able to bring him in." He has been allocated squad number 25 and is added to the squad for the visit of Newport County on Saturday.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Someone else's OS quicker than ours once again. Hope he does well
Jimmy Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 hope he does well comes back full of confidence and can push on
SmithyFox12 Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Good luck to the lad, hopefully he comes back a better player with more experience.
ealingfox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 "Jacob Blyth's been sent on loan to Northampton Town" "Cobblers!" "No, its true"
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 They put it on twitter before northampton did .....
Fox92 Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 They put it on twitter before northampton did ..... I think this is the way the club are heading, I'm guessing. They seem to be quicker updating the twitter profile (although I haven't got twitter), and I know they update their facebook page a lot. Good luck to Blyth anyway. Should give him some experience, especially at a club like Northampton who I'm guessing will be one of the better teams in that league.
Tommy G Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 He's 21 now...I think there he has to prove something this season to get another contract to play in the first team. Good luck to him but scoring a few for the youth team is hardly pulling up trees. Will need to prove he can score a hatful at Northampton
Ross-Kemp Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Scored an absolute bagful for the devolpoment team, I hope he can kick on and notch a few for Northampton and come back here brimming with confidence.
Danno Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 So much for people wanting him in the first team lol .
theessexfox Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Don't see much point in a month-long loan myself.
Hollism Posted 9 August 2013 Posted 9 August 2013 Don't see much point in a month-long loan myself. Me either. Unless it's to cover for injuries, or there's a month left of the season
Stadt Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 If he was good enough surely he'd have a few more first te games for us? It'll be interesting to see how he gets on there.
MC Prussian Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 only one month? not long enough. I guess there's always an option to extend the loan. I wish Blyth well at Northampton and that he can show what he's made of.
Bayfox Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Don't see much point in a month-long loan myself. they took matt heath on after the friendly against us. i think he then got injured in the cup game tuesday. it maybe as cover for him.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Just scored for them too, great finish by the sounds of it
Ross-Kemp Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 25 minutes and he's scored, be very interesting to see how he gets on for the month loan.
BoneDog Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Is this just a month loan or might it get extended?
Jimmy Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 Is this just a month loan or might it get extended? No reason for us to say no
Jimmy Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 just read on a Northampton Forum they are making comparisons with Steve Howard, didn't think he was that big or physical
Webbo Posted 10 August 2013 Posted 10 August 2013 just read on a Northampton Forum they are making comparisons with Steve Howard, didn't think he was that big or physical I've never seen him but iIrc it was said that he was a big lad when he signed.
