Father Ted Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 On this point I will ignore nuge's penalties I'll look at open play goals. Yes he has not scored enough niether has Vardy. Why do we just have a thread about Nuge and not 2 or a joint one. I'm no trying to justify Nuge niether have scored enough. Yes vardy is a lot better player than last year but has not scored enough either. In the Boro match thread NP was being slated for picking him before kick off. Since that game no one has called Vardy. Yes he puts in a good shift and praps more so than Nuge but his goal tally is no better. They have both wasted a lot of chances so why slate just Nuge. Vardy has scored two more goals from open play and offers so much more to the team. He wasn't statistically our best player for August and September. Massive contrast between the two.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 December 2013 Posted 8 December 2013 Anyone else think Arsenal's Giroud has a bit of a Nuge look about him?
cityfanlee23 Posted 9 December 2013 Posted 9 December 2013 Cityfanlee has a nugent voodoo doll and smears it with excrement before a match. I wish.... Joke, I would be the same if vardy or anybody was on that form.... People think I have an agenda against nugent which is not true, the only reason I'm always popping up defending my opinion is simply to the fact he's the only player that has been consistently shit since January, the rest have had bad spells but bounced back, Nugent has not.... Nothing personal to him and I hope he proves e wrong but he hasn't and probably won't...
cityfanlee23 Posted 9 December 2013 Posted 9 December 2013 Anyone else think Arsenal's Giroud has a bit of a Nuge look about him? Good point! Nugent/giroud/mark webber
MC Prussian Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Obviously took the criticism from the last two away games to heart - just like the others.
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Playing better today. He's taken another penalty... He couldn't play much worse than last 12 months so don't hold your breath.... Looks average atm
coolhandfox Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Sense Nugent is turning a corner, goals starting to come from open play, good header today, can see him finishing the season strongly.
Babylon Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Sense Nugent is turning a corner, goals starting to come from open play, good header today, can see him finishing the season strongly. Was Vardy on the pitch? Or had he gone off and Nuge then played as the further forward striker?
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Other than the goal (which was a decent finish) he really wasn't that great. I lost count how many times he stupidly gave the ball away to them in the short time he was on. It was actually getting quite frustrating to watch him.
coolhandfox Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Was Vardy on the pitch? Or had he gone off and Nuge then played as the further forward striker? Goal was in the 77th minute, Vardy went off in the 80th minute.
Stadt Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 It was a header in the cup, definitely does not count. Actually that should be -1 from his league tally.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 We were much, much improved when Nugent came on. I think it showed that we do miss him quite a bit if he doesn't play.
MC Prussian Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 He's taken another penalty... He couldn't play much worse than last 12 months so don't hold your breath.... Looks average atm What a difference two weeks make, eh? Every player goes through rough patches, including strikers. I'm glad Nugent's proving his doubters wrong.
Guest Col city fan Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 As Ive been saying since last season, Nugent remains the best striker at the club. Bar none. The severe criticism he gets on here is embarrassing and ANY other Championship club would snap him up if he wasnt with us. I DO concur however that this season he's missed some sitters.
Mack Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 It's an old cliche but is true... Form is temporary, class is permanent. Nugent is a class player, and if you stick with him you won go far wrong. Needs to be given a new contract now, he's part of our spine.

This season I've had a mutter about Nugent but this is because I think a lot of him and expect great things.
Finnaldo Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Should Wood be fit for Derby, who would you put up front? Personally I'd go Vardy and Nugent starting with Wood on in the second half.
