Nugent - " Leicester Boo Boys"

As Ive been saying since last season, Nugent remains the best striker at the club. Bar none.

The severe criticism he gets on here is embarrassing and ANY other Championship club would snap him up if he wasnt with us.

I DO concur however that this season he's missed some sitters.

Totally agree Col, he has also been playing in a slightly withdrawn role too. The slating he gets from certain parties is incredulous.

Wood cannot possibly start against Derby.

I'm not a huge fan of Wood to be honest - he played very well against Fulham I thought, but sadly fails to give enough on the pitch (he may of course have been carrying an injury in recent performances but...)

Stick with Nugent - he has the qualities to score regularly in this league and when Vardy learns a bit more craft to his game, they could be a useful pairing as they are both blessed with a touch of pace.

I'd take Nugent over most forwards in this league. His record over the years warrants respect.

Come on Col,i agree with you a lot of time, but penalties a side he has been nowhere near the player he was....its only recently he has starting to put a shift in,but for me he is still not the player he was.

I still think its a underlying problem whether its the new baby or the contract situation....time will tell, but hopefully its neither and he comes back to the player we know best, because we really need him

Who is this Chris Wood whose returning? for the last 12 months everyone's been calling him Chris Woods

The thing with nugent is the role he is asked to play with vardy, he's in a deep lying forward's role, meaning vardy feeds of nugents scraps and balls.

In the past two games (most notably with GTF) nugent was playing vardy's advanced forward role... and scored.

I think he's good at both, but what he is asked to do differs when he is alongside vardy, some people forget that and miss his work unless he scores.

6 assist too, most for LCFC

I keep on mentioning this, nobody seems to care, even those that are sticking up for him. 6 assists now.

The withdrawn role, hence having 6 assists, it is not all about scoring, it is all about goals and points, and at the moment we are top of the league and Nugent has had a direct hand in 18 of our 42 league goals, and people are still criticising him.

Don't understand all this criticism myself either Nugent has never scored more then 15 league goals in a season in his career, he is looking certain to beat that this season, he's got 12 in 24 so far and it's already been stated already he has the most assists

What you have to understand is when he picks up the ball in the centre circle just picking up a yard or two and feeding the ball is not good enough. He needs to carry it past all the opponents players a one two with dyer, then flick it out for Vardy to smash against the keeper as Knockerart picks up the loose ball chips to the far post for him to score. Vardy needs to stay on his feet as a penalty is of no use to us.

Exactly.

But sometimes players can't seem to win. Ask Yakubu.

I've been his biggest critic this season as i know he can perform better. His all round play and influence on games hasn't been good enough for me this season.

Against Derby last year on December 1st he scored his 10th goal of the season meaning he only scored 4 or 5 more in the last 6 months of the season.

I cant help but think hes growing into this season and is getting better as the season goes on, I'm 100% convinced hell finish this season with his best scoring tally.

nuge is a great team player, yes goals wise (apart from the penalties) he's hardly hit the ground running this season, but his team play and work rate cannot be criticised. I personally still think he's our number one forward... Fingers crossed he bags a brace against Derby, from open play, then maybe the criticism will calm down

He has scored from open play in his past 2 games I don't think it is a massive issue that some are making out he is our best forward simple as that.

I really can't see why people have a problem with Nugent. He is in my opinion the best striker we have and sits on top of our top goalscorers list. He always puts a shift in, adds to goals with assissts and he seems to love playing for this club.

Yes he has scored X amount of penalties for us this season but is this a valied reason for fans to slate him??! I can understand the slating if he had missed the penalties but he has only missed 2. The penalties still need to be stuck away.

I would hate to think of what everyone would be like if Nugent had missed all the penalties he has faced! Give him a break and get behind him and the team!

Nuge is a big game player. I'd rely on him in an important match more then anyone else in our squad. He single handedly kept us in the Watford ties

Ah! An expert on tactics.
