purpleronnie Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Below average Its what you do with it that counts.....apparently.
MooseBreath Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 433: 2 - 0 442: 0 - 1 Very clever of Nige to gift them the game so that we can focus on promotion before proving we are actually better than them if we want to be.
Legend_in_blue Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 This fixture becomes important next season. In the league...
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Its what you do with it that counts.....apparently. Thats just a lie, put about by women who are just 'being nice'....

muzzycomeback Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 This fixture becomes important next season. In the league... No, I think we'll get promoted this season!

absolutelegend Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 great result for me. happy to go out but not get embarrassed. also meant we got a goal for our great away following to celebrate.
EnglishOxide Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 I find it really strange that so many are pleased we went out. A good cup run is never an indication that league form will drop. What if this season goes tits up and we dont get promoted? Itd have been nice to have had a good cup run and made some memorys along the way. Its baffling.
Poznan34 Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 This season is one I'm not too bothered about the FA Cup, glad a few players got a rest.

I think that because of how well we are doing in the league and the job that Nigel Pearson is doing, fans are more willing to accept a bad result in the fa cup (if you can call losing 2 - 1 away at an established prem side a bad result). If we were say 7th I think fans would be much more disgruntled.
ealingfox Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 It's not compulsory to enter the FA Cup is it? How long before modern football sees teams not even bothering to enter, in a bid to preserve their 16th in the Prem status.

We didnt battered so the confidence won't be lost. The problem with the cup is that it adds more fixture later in the season when injuries and tiredness sets in. A cup run would be fantastic but a midweek fixture against a lower premiership team would be a pain in the arse, especially if an important league game is on the following Saturday. I'd rather have the whole week off instead of Nige having to decide whether to give the first team another runout just before a big six pointer or to put in reserve players and possibly upset the balance they've gained.

I swear there was a team recently who were considering not entering but I forgot who and for what reason. It might have been Liverpool when they were in the Europa league.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Im usually all for doing well in the Cups but today I'm not bothered. Firstly because I never thought we'd beat Stoke away anyway. Secondly because we've stayed pretty much injury free I believe? We'd have prob done better today with Chris Wood in the side to match Shawcross physically. Back in contention for Friday I think?
Tom17LCFC Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 That's what he said.... He's suggesting Stoke will be relegated. Happy as is possible with today. Obviously disappointed with the defeat but we weren't thrashed, we got on the scoresheet and now we can focus 100% on the league, this'll all be forgotten about come friday!!
Babylon Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 We'd have prob done better today with Chris Wood in the side to match Shawcross physically. Back in contention for Friday I think? Sounds like it... great boost to have him back
Simonb Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Lost 2-1 with another changed team and formation. . Not that bad really all about the league
Unabomber Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 Would've been weird if we'd done a job and won 3 - 0 or something playing that diamond formation. Pearson wouldn't know what to do vs Derby.

foxfanazer Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 If we'd have gone out to a fellow championship side or lower then I'd be slightly disappointed about being out of the cup. We didn't though, we lost 2-1 away to a mid table prem side and can now fully concentrate on our promotion campaign
CheshireFox Posted 4 January 2014 Posted 4 January 2014 i had fun even though the first half was a bit unexciting football wise, pretty good atmosphere tho not a patch on the man city away game last season or the season before (memory not functioning). 5 live apparently said it was an uninspiring game with no sense of the magic of the cup, but that we definitely deserved something from it for outsinging the home 'fans'. amazingly pro leicester for 5 live i thought.

Just because we are top it doesnt mean nothing else matters.Tbh my concern doesnt just lie with Leicester fans. Stoke are mid table mediocrity at best and there is no way they will break the top 7, so why not concentrate/hope to win a cup? Instead they barely crack 10k attendancd. Its a sad state of affairs tbh. I just think lots of fans discredit cup competitions when usually its their biggest chance of seeing a trophy.
