Kevin Phillips Signs.

Think KP completes the jigsaw up front. Nugent, Vardy and Wood are the main three "starters" who can be rotated as necessary, KP brought on if we're chasing a goal and GTF brought on if we're defending a lead. Good to have different types of players for different situations.

Kevin Phillips has announced that his move to Leicester has been "signed and sealed".

The veteran striker has agreed a deal with the runaway Championship leaders after being released by Crystal Palace last month.

The 40-year-old hopes to make his debut against Leeds on Saturday, and he is determined to earn one more chance to compete in the Premier League with the in-form Foxes.

"I'm delighted to have completed my move to Leicester," Phillips wrote in his skysports.com blog.

"I had a discussion with them in the summer, when they wanted to sign me, however, as I've said in my blog before, the lure of the Premier League and one last crack at the top flight at my age was too hard to turn down.

"But, once I agreed to leave Crystal Palace, we made contact again and, to be honest, this was the only club I wanted to come to.

"Everything felt right; it's perfect for me location-wise, they're pushing for promotion, they've got a fantastic set-up and a great stadium, plus I've got respect for the manager Nigel Pearson and his assistant Craig Shakespeare, who I know from my West Brom days.

"Now it's all signed and sealed I can't wait to get back to hopefully scoring a few vital goals at vital times and help this club get to where they want to be - the Premier League.

"A lot of clubs and some players don't like to talk about promotion but from a personal achievement I'd love to help them gain promotion, as I did with Palace last year.

"I managed to score some important goals - none more so than the match-winning penalty in the play-off final - and if I could replicate that for Leicester it would be a great end to the season and a great end to a career for myself."

Phillips also revealed that he has already trained with Leicester, and he believes he could be involved at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime.

"I trained with the club for the first time on Wednesday morning," he added. "Obviously the management knew I was coming but I think it was a bit of a surprise for the players to see me walk in!

I've worked really hard to keep my fitness up since I left Palace and I've done loads of running but physically there's no substitute for that training sharpness.

"The atmosphere in the camp is excellent, though, which you'd expect form a team that's top of the league and playing well.

"It's great to be a Leicester player now, and I'm hoping to get involved at some stage against Leeds on Saturday."

KP (not the cricketer) must be the oldest players we have ever signed or? Has anyone got an idea of this???

Chris Powell is our oldest ever player (to play in a match) at 40 years and 200 days.

KP is currently 40 years, 174 days.

Edit: I lied. Joe Calvert (back in 1947) was 40 years and 313 days.

Chris Powell was oldest debutant at 38 years and 354 days, according to Wiki.

Wasn't Chris Powell 40 too?

So some people would rather we put Waghorn on the pitch than KP?

Insanity

Are people forgetting Wood is out injured? we need cover!

Welcome to the club Kevin

Don't think waggy will get a game at all.

I would think promotion bonuses are linked to number of games that and he don't offer enough.

Personally would rather KP on for 30 mins than waggy all match.

It's the 80th minute, it's 0-0, we are pressing the opposition and need a goal... Times like that are made for Phillips.

Hated him playing against us, if the ball went anywhere near him in the box you knew you'd be in trouble.

Don't get me wrong, Im not against him signing. I just wonder whether he can keep up with the pace of our game. GTF struggles and hes younger. Like I said will be interested to see how he is used. Good luck to him.

He lost his pace years ago, he's been over the hill for a while and thus far he's still been an asset in this league.

Exactly, and someone who could actually say something like " Only weak people feel pressure"
