Kevin Phillips Signs.

Spot on.... I think this is exactly why Pearson wants him. Lets face it, nobody in football seems to have a bad word to say about the bloke.

This was the text conversion with my Geordie mate:

Me: Kevin "Golden Boot" Phillips (as he's know in football circles) has signed

Him: Kevin "Golden Cunt" Phillips as he's known in Geordie circles

5 minutes later

Him: That's not true. I made that up. SOZ. Just "cunt"

So, apart from Geordies, you might be right :D

Now if only we could borrow a Tardis and set it to around minus 14-15 years. I remember watching the Pathe news footage of his goals at Sunderland at the time thinking he's the kind of legend I'll be able to tell my grandchildren about. At this rate I'll be able to take them along to watch him play!

So far the mentality of the team / squad has been superb and he is one player who will definitely stay calm under pressure and spread that calmness around. He is a useful asset, I presume Waggy will go in this window and whilst he is more mobile and does more outside the box than Phillips he does miss chances. Really GTF replaced Waggy and Phillips is bringing the numbers back up to where they were when Futacs was around (unless you consider the arrival of Wood the reason for Futacs later departure.)

Four main strikers now when all fit and utility forwards in GTF and Schlupp, who both can play different roles. Waghorn has been told he can leave. I think the only area we need cover is left back as I'm worried Konch may get a long term injury and whilst Schlupp is a makeshift left back, it would worry me if this was long term. People may feel Miquel can fulfil that role?

What a player to bring off the bench!! He may not have the speed of a younger player but he has the speed of thought. The knowledge and the know how to drop off his marker. Seen him do it many, many times! You don't have to be that quick over a few yards/metres.

Till he starts scoring goals something sadly missing from woods game along with fitness.

He can't score if he's not playing, that's my point. He has already proven that he is capable of being prolific at this level. I'd rather prioritise getting him back to that level over playing KP.

Nothing much wrong with Chris Wood bar his fitness. He will find the net if and when he gets another run in the side. My only concern regarding his future at Leicester is one of the reasons behind our success this season is the pressing style of play and pace shown by Vardy and Nugent, something Wood isn't blessed with. That's not to say he's not got a part to play as you need different options but whilst we continue to win games and in the fashion we're doing, Nigel is not going to change things too much.

Phillips has hardly built a career around being rapid. A loss of pace will affect him less than others imo. Great player to bring on and grab a winner or finish a game off. We've all seen this team have the odd game where we create but don't score.

passed it

will be another useless GTF

Sarcasm? If not, imagine where we might be if we had Phillips to take that penalty at Watford?

I'll be happy if he gets 5/6 goals.

That will probably mean he has gained us 6/9 pts

Just from coming on late when we are struggling.

who knows? he might sky it

Can you imagine 2-2, or 2-1 down... last 15 minutes, bring in on Kevin Phillips and Lloydy. Absolute nightmare for tired defenders.

Yes I am pleased about him signing but can people please stop going on about that ****ing penalty in the ****ing playoffs. Phillios did score yes but he could have just have easily put it miles over the top. Plus, if we ever get a pen and he takes it people will be expecting him to score, which is when complacency creeps in. Take him as he comes, game by game

Bit weird this one. Was one of my favourite players growing up. He's older than Muzzy Izzet!

Would love him to score a couple and if he has coaching potential he'd be good to have around the club, a model pro.

Kevin Phillips: Leicester boss Pearson offers coaching role

Manager Nigel Pearson hopes Kevin Phillips will become part of Leicester City's coaching set-up when the striker finally calls time on his career.

The 40-year-old has joined the Championship leaders on a deal until the end of the season.

Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "I'd like to introduce him to the coaching side of the club at a later date.

"We have spoken about that but, for this season, he wants to concentrate on playing and I am happy for that."

However, Pearson still believes Phillips will be a valuable playing asset before he does retire after a 285-goal, nine-club career.

"He brings vast experience and quality, so forget the number that is associated with his name - and his age," Pearson said.

"He is a great addition to the club."

Thought this would be the plan, think many others did aswell.

Just watched the Kevin Phillips interview on you tube he sounds up and ready for the challenge I think this signing will turn out to be a master stroke by Pearson. And I wouldn't put it past him to bag a goal tomorrow. Happy fox
