Collymore Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 That director of football we got. I was thinking the other day is he still with us?.... because I very rarely hear him mentioned. Then I thought it was about the same time he was appointed that Big Nige turned turned into a mental manager that doesn't know how to lose. Nige acted a bit pissed off when he was appointed but may be that was just him having flashbacks with those Romanian dogs. I wonder if Terry is to be partly commended for our recent trailblazing? ....Or is it all just coincidence? discuss....
Fox92 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Robinson? Yeah, Nige mentioned him post match Bournemouth.
Collymore Posted 2 February 2014 Author Posted 2 February 2014 can someone link me to the dog article? Enjoy
Leicesterpool Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I seen him on one those tunnel cam video's think it was after the Bournemouth game, he was patting the lads on the back after the game.
Stadt Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Terry Robinson and some Dave guy, they've both been under the radar which is certainly a good thing and as we all can see they've definitely made some sort of impact.
Guesty Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I'm glad we don't here from him. That's exactly what you want from a DoF who has to work alongside a manager. And let's face it, what ever he's doing it's working.
GingerrrFox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 The bloke is about as no nonsense as they come. Radio Leicester have asked to interview him about 5 times and he ignores them every single time. I heard Nigel and Terry had a bit of friction at first as they were at loggerheads about a few potential signings and how best to reach FFP, all cleared up now and are singing from the same hymn sheet. Funny what being top of the league does.
sylofox Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Thinking they may have crossed paths in the past. But if not seem a great relationship long may it continue. Must be good I'd forgot we had a DOF. I bet not many fans at other clubs could say that. If it is not working that just says how much NP is dedicated to our club that he can work through a shite situation. Personally think they must be getting on. Hopefully his remit (The DOF) is just wages contracts and a little scouting and not picking players like some DOF. The fact we here nothing suggests that is all his job is witch is great give NP more time on the training ground.
KFS Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 I was the most critical of bringing in a DoF, only because we've seen how this foreign model hadn't travelled well with the likes of Newcastle etc. But so far so good, I like the way he's so silent we don't even know what he really looks like. It will only stand us in good stead if we continue this model with the possibility of a Premier League campaign included. It's looking good boys and girls.
cc_star Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 Ask Lloyd Dyer what he thinks of him, whose form is potentially suffering as a result. What's happening with Schmeichel? What's happening with Nigel Pearson himself? The stop-start or even non-existent negotiations with some of the 11 out of contract players and management team means much of the power is in their hands, not the club's. Anyway, it's not really hindering progress as a whole.

Anyway, it's not really hindering progress as a whole. 1 year contract is hardly shite, for a player that we don't whether he will be good enough for the prem. Kasper depends on promotion if we achieve that he will likely stay with us as he will be 1st choice in the prem NP probably has been offered a new contract but will probably sign it when we are promoted, because that would be the right time as his focus is 100% on getting us promotion and rightly so.
Itsthejoeker Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 I like how we never hear from him, it seems as if he's fully concentrated on his job and working in the background just like DOF's should. Whenever you hear these horror stories about them, it's because they're always striving to be in the spotlight, doing interviews left right and centre, and pissing about with the clubs culture. Leave him to it I say. He showed Mahrez's agent that he wasn't prepared to give in to excessive demands in order to keep our finances in check, so why should he do the same to Dyer? Part of his role is to evaluate the ability of the players and whether they will be suitable for the premier league, by offering Dyer a one year contract he is rewarding him for his service to the club and showing that he his prepared to take a risk. If that risk doesn't pay off, do you want to be lumbered with someone who will probably be on high wages for another year? A large majority on here would have let him go last season, but now he's playing well it's as if he's the messiah, if he plays poor next season then opinions will probably change once again.
surrifox Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 there was a time when any self respecting manager would sooner walk out than work with a DoF (MON eg would have demanded (and received) total control) but times change. The owners have dropped £100 mill of their fortune into the club with possibly more to come - they cannot allow any manager to control the finances without some oversight - Nige seems OK with that . On a practical level of course he can manage the players and deal with footy matters with difficulties over contracts, transfers etc one step removed.
CloudFox Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 I know someone who worked with Terry Robinson at Stoke. I asked him about him when he first joined our club, and the first thing I was told was that we are 'in safe hands' with a good bloke who 'gets stuff done, and ensures the club doesn't have to pay through the nose'. He knows what he's doing from the sounds of it, and if anything I'd agree with other posters that his role has freed up Big Nige to be more hands on with the team itself than being caught up in all of the crap that comes with modern football these days.
ramadaone Posted 3 February 2014 Posted 3 February 2014 To say Terry is no nonsence is an understatement to say the least and in many ways is like NP This could have been a receipe for disaster but appears to be working very well at present as they both speak their mind and just get on with it. This has been helped by us only looking to bring in one or two players so Terry has spent most of his efforts on improving the 16,18 and 21 age groups. Hopefully following promotion we will be looking at bringing in a fair few new faces so this is when it will get interesting but that work has already started so see no need for any personal issues to arise. As to what he looks like ? Think Claude Greengrass on a good day and you won't be far wrong ...

Who he wants to keep and for how long? Nige said at the start of the season he did not want to talk about a new contract untill the season was over. Also with Nige the Dof will have nothing to do with his contract that as the DOF's contract would be sorted by the CEO and owners. As for Kasper has he not said the same as NP he wants to wait till the season is over before commiting to anything as he wants prem football next season.
