BigWesMorgan Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Barnsley (a) - Lost 5-0 Today Blackpool (h) - Lost 4-0 Today Blackburn (a) - Lost 4-0 Today Easy 9 Points After that Yeovil (h) - Chance to get our goal difference up?
Fox92 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Think Blackburn will be tough personally, but, on paper, Barnsley, Blackpool and Yeovil should be 9 points.
KFS Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 ON PAPER. Need to be really cautious of the next 4 games. But win them all and we're promoted.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 We don't play on paper... we play on... oh my god I'm going to kill myself
Super_horns Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Blackpool actually seem to have some decent Championship players but they did look totally devoid of ideas and confidence.
CPW22 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 I think we need to pick up at least 7 points from the next three and a win against Yeovil. Blackburn, Burnley and Wigan away will be very tough IMO.
RizLCFC Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 No game is easy in this league, we have done a fantastic job so far, one game at a time.
deanolegend1989 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Looking at the fixtures, Id say the next 4 games could IMO all but guarentee promotion. We have: Barnsley A Blackpool H Blackburn A Yeovil H Derby have: Millwall H Bolton H Reading A Forest H Now we have a 13 point gap. If we were to either keep that gap or increase it with 9 games to play, we would be up I think. Derby will drop at least 2-5 points from that..so if we get 8+ Id say making it up with 9 to play would be near on impossible.
nlukka Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I don't think Blackburn away will be that straightforward, although their hammering by Bolton this weekend raises doubts about them.Barnsley could be a banana-skin but I think we should come out on top. Given how poor Blackpool look right now I'd be amazed if we don't beat them comfortably, and whilst Yeovil can spring a surprise their defence does look awful. Personally, I think 9 points or above would be a very good return.
Babylon Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Be happy with a 15 point gap and 9 to play... Might just start to relax a bit then.
billyn88 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 This is all idle speculation, but then again what are online forums for? As long as we maintain this gap until Burnley away I think we'll be ok, even allowing for some dodgy form towards the end. Our ability to kill off teams at home this season has been key - every Championship game at home is a potential banana skin and we've dodged almost every one.
Brainy Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 10pts would be acceptable. Derby seem to be able to beat most teams in this division somehow, they should win their next two games atleast and Reading's home form hasn't been great recently either.
harpendenfox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I'm usually a pessimist who expects a disaster to befall my beloved team around every corner. It may still, of course, but having watched those last two home games: a) it feels like we're getting better all the time b) we seem to be working harder than ever as a team c) opponents sound beaten in the run up to the game, and look beaten pretty much from the off Of course some 'wonder goal' may put us off our stride over the coming games but, as Nige says, if we do our things as well as we know we can, we should be alright. Wonderful times to be a City fan
Babylon Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 a) it feels like we're getting better all the time b) we seem to be working harder than ever as a team Was thinking the same this morning, we definitely are still improving as the season goes on (the odd bad game excluded). Was massively impressed with work rate right until the end of the end on Sat. 3-0 up and in cruise control in the 85th minute and players were still closing down as though their lives depended on it.
Fox92 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I'll be happy with 10 points, as I think Blackburn will be tough. I'd imagine Derby get something out of all their games. Only games I see them possibly not taking all three points from are Forest and Reading, having said that Derby are pretty solid at home and Reading are so inconsistent anything can happen.
deanolegend1989 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I see Derby getting 7 points..2 wins 1 draw 1 loss. If we get 10 we'd be almost up.Id take 8 from ours as I cant see how we will not slip up soon. 11 wins and 2 draws(both draws great combacks) we havnt had a disapointing result in ages! We will slip up in 1 of the 3 games that on paper we should smash, so if you offered 8 points Id take it right now.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Even if we only take 6 points from next 4 games that puts us top on 80 points with 9 games to go. i would think from that point that with 9 games to go we would only need couple of wins to virtually seal promotion. Lets see how the table looks if/when we reach 80 points. Not thinking of the title until we secure promotion which i believe will come sooner rather than later with the form were in
StanSP Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Looking at the fixtures, Id say the next 4 games could IMO all but guarentee promotion. If we were to either keep that gap or increase it with 9 games to play, we would be up I think. Derby will drop at least 2-5 points from that..so if we get 8+ Id say making it up with 9 to play would be near on impossible. Think we'll both win 3 each. We'll drop points at Blackburn I reckon, while Derby will draw with Forest at home.
MC Prussian Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Would be nice to take eight to ten points from these four games (three wins and one draw or two wins and two draws). However, even though lots of things are going much more in our favor, we've slipped up against lower-table opposition before and need to take each game separately. Then again, maybe the team has something to make up for, looking at that pathetic display at Oakwell last season.
RowlattsFox Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Would rather we get the job done in March with these fixtures, then less pressure on difficult games at Wigan, burnley and reading. As well as having QPR and Brighton at home. 3 wins out of these next four games and we'll almost be there.
lgfualol Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 Who have Burnley got? I think we can get 7 points at least from those
