Haydos Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Also if we're playing Footy Manager then Lloyd is under the Club Favoured Personnel along with Kingy. Muzzy is an icon and Linekar is a legend.
pazzerfox Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 There's no substitute for real pace at any level. I can imagine Dyer coming into a game at 60/70 mins and frightening tiring full backs. He's a loyal servant to the club, and has earnt a new contract. If he wants two seasons, I'd give him it. I suspect he's not one of the biggest earners anyway. Regarding all those saying he won't cut it in the Prem.. how do you know? Who would have expected Lloyd to have had his best ever season in a City shirt this time round? 2 seasons for a player who has given the club so much, never moaned, never complained.. compared to some of the fookin bang-average players in the Prem, earning stupid money? Shame on all you doubters. I hope Lloyd does stay and proves you all wrong. Pace is easily nullified. Dyer had a brilliant spell midway through the season but hasn't really done much since as teams have stopped him using his pace. You need more than just being able to run fast these days. Whilst I am a big fan of Lloyds commitment and effort for the cause, replacing him with a younger version of him who has more of an end product would be a wise move..There is little sentiment in football anymore.
Dickov22 Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 I'm gonna say something unpopular..... I love Lloyd but last few games I think he may have lost a bit of pace.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 I'm gonna say something unpopular..... I love Lloyd but last few games I think he may have lost a bit of pace. Every player has lost some pace in the last few games, as well as urgency and commitment.
Alf Bentley Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Is it beyond the ability of the club to come up with a 2-year deal that is low-risk financially? Say, 1 year on reasonable Premier League terms and 1 year heavily dependent on league status, appearances etc.? Even if he played less next season than this (likely, but not certain - he's surprised us by stepping up before), he would be a valuable option to have on the bench. Particularly against stronger teams - an option for goals on the break, and if not, then for pinning a couple of their defenders back out of fear of the breakaway, thereby reducing pressure on our defence. He's also significantly improved his ability to keep possession and play for the team in the last year or so. As for the second season, would it not be worth offering him terms such as: basic Championship-level pay guaranteed, but significant bonuses for appearances, assists or goals at Premier League level? That way, if he wasn't up to standard in the 15-16 season, his contract wouldn't be a major burden, even if we were still in the Premier, he wasn't playing and he didn't move on. If it's about him maximising income in the last years of his career, I can understand that. His disinclination to do interviews and memories of him (a few years back) leaving the pitch with NP apparently reassuring him that he was a good player, doesn't suggest someone with the confidence/communication skills for a future in coaching, hospitality, media etc. He might have another career option, but if not, this might be his last chance to earn significant dosh for his family's future. Lloyd has been a great servant to Leicester, so I'll wish him well whatever he does, but I do hope something can be done to keep him here. Message to Lloyd and to LCFC: it's in the interests of both parties - get a contract signed!
dedlock Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Lloyd has been good but, at times, inconsistent in his time with City.He is our 3rd best league scorer with DD this season ,teams have nullified his threat by doubling up.PL defences will be more savvy. I am surprised he may pass up the opportunity to play PL football,he and we may never know if he has the guile to suceed at that level. Like many clubs we appear to be offering one year deals only to older players. If so, Lloyd can't expect an exception. My concern next season is who will score the goals? I doubt Lloyd will make much difference. An alternative may well.
Tielemans63 Posted 4 May 2014 Posted 4 May 2014 Would be a massive shame. Love Lloydy. I can understand why he's asked for two years but it seems daft to leave over it. Surely one year in the prem then review next year is a good option for him? What's he going to lose?

Surely one year in the prem then review next year is a good option for him? What's he going to lose? Contract security from another club willing to offer 2 years maybe? Although I see your point that 1 year in the Premier League after all the hard work would be hard to turn down.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, club gunning for promotion with Pearce next year and prob won't even haveto move house!
harpendenfox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 This is a 'wife leaving you for worst enemy' scenario. Other marital scenarios are of course available
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 He could go to a nice club like Wednesday and not have to move house, though. Lloyd is chief Forest wind up merchant, this is gash.
Happy Fox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 If Dyer goes to the Redshite that is his prerogative we are going to bring in a better replacement anyway.
LanguedocFox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 If Derby don't get through the playoffs, I think they might go for him, seeing how he terrorised them in January. I wouldn't mind that, though I would prefer him to stay.
ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 i haven't cried since i was about 8 but if he runs round the city ground in a red top i will drown in my own tears
Mark_w Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 i haven't cried since i was about 8 Unless you're 9-10 that sounds very unhealthy. Go and have a good cry.
gcah2013 Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 Unless you're 9-10 that sounds very unhealthy. Go and have a good cry. He must be 9 - unless he didn't cry at the Deeney goal. The goal I now watch on YouTube in my spare time to have a good laugh.

ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 i'm 9 next week i'm not really i just don't cry cos i'm not a fanny
Mark_w Posted 6 May 2014 Posted 6 May 2014 i'm 9 next week i'm not really i just don't cry cos i'm not a fanny Doesn't hurt to have a good cry, not doing so in 11 years (?) suggests that you're either very boring or you have an unhealthy need to appear 'masculine'. Go and weep for a bit, it'll help.
