Contract talks with Dyer break down?

Can't agree with some of the negativity towards him on here. Whoever's at fault or whatever the reason is for him not agreeing terms, he's been an influential and committed player for us for 6 years and has always given everything for the club. I wish him all the best for the future.

Even though usually I'd be adverse to pandering to a player, we could give these a go since it's Lloyd:

Please don't go, Dyer

Please don't go,

Please don't go, Dyer

Please don't go,

Please don't go, Dyer

Please don't go

Oh Lloyd please don't go

Or:

Dyer, sign the ting,

Dyer, Dyer, sign the ting

As a player i would always be angling for a two year deal. Its not as if he is 40.

I think only offering a one year deal at this stage is a bit tight considering his contribution over the last few years.

Two years makes sense for the club too as we could get a fee for him if it turns out he is out of his depth next season.

Took the words right outta my mouth... Couldn't agree more!

Sad to see this story. Lloyd has been a servant to the club the last few years and although he has his ups and downs, I think he would be a great player to have in our PL squad. Let's hope that we can sort something out with him to keep him on for another year.

I'm not negative on Lloyd, but I see with a team such as Cardiff who have stuck with too many players not of prem quality and see the result.  I think the club will be wanting clear prem quality at every spot.  I don't think that describes Lloyd right now.

I think he should  try 1 year in the prem if offered, and see if he sits on the bench most of the time.  If he contributes, he will get to stay.  If he sits on the bench, he can come back to the Championship (hopefully not with Leicester) and play another few years, or go out on loan.

Can see the perspective of both sides here, but Lloyd would be silly to refuse. What a chance to play in the Prem and if he does well he'll get another year. Have faith in yourself Lloyd!

Maybe he knows the signings we are trying to make.

And he could still play in the prem... just might not be for us.. I could see him at Burnley... He might prefer Derby if they make it due to their location..

Hoping this is just a bit of mischief to try and force a deal. That said, I don't think we should change our demands, just hope it's a bluff that we're calling and that he does sign anyway. Would be a real shame if Lloydy didn't get his shot at the Premier League before he goes over the hill.

I suppose we shouldn't criticise too much if he's after regular first team football at this stage of his career either though as we almost certainly won't be able to offer him that next season.

Tbh most teams in the bottom half of the prem are full of championship standard players with a sprinkling of prem quality players thrown in, which is how we will be next season

Good for us this season.. But would not hack it in the premier league.. Truth hurts sometimes.. Good luck Lloyd... You've been a great servant to the club.

I fvckin love Lloyd and I really hope he doesn't leave and gets a chance in a Prem starting line up, but I can't blame the club for offering him a one year deal.

He will walk into any other Championship starting XI, or even Burnley or the play-off winners.
