spirefoxes Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 I used google translate Info Boxbold.linksLeicesterPremier LeagueChampionshipFor three years, Kasper Schmeichel been a safe last redoubt of Leicester . This season was the crowning achievement in the form of a sovereign promotion to the Premier League.Schmeichel's contract expires in a few weeks , but it leans toward an extension . It tells the keeper , who these days is assembled with the rest of the national team squad for the games against Hungary and Sweden.- Negotiations are under way, and it seems like it's pretty close . Hopefully we can publish something in the next little while , says Kasper Schmeichel .The goalkeeper has had other opportunities, but he is really good in Leicester.- There have been opportunities , I will not hide . But Leicester has always been there when I really wanted to be . I have enjoyed being in the team from day one. I have a really good relationship with the fans and all those who work at the club. It is a place where I have felt for right from day one.- It's a club that means a lot to me . They showed great confidence in me at a time when I needed a club that did it. I am very grateful. I've been playing here for three years, and it's a great club , says Schmeichel and explains:- Very well structured , well-organized . We have some really good owners and a great coach . I've been really, really happy in the team from day one.Does the extension as expected into place , it is on the Premier League next season.- It's something I've been hoping for a long time, and something I am looking very much forward .Kasper Schmeichel played in the season ended is 51 appearances for Leicester, and it points to the fact that it will be even more in the future.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 19 May 2014 Posted 19 May 2014 Funnily enough I've just translated it and he just goes on about buying one of those Anderlecht Leicester alliance t shirts . . .
Hack Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 We could have sold kasper to hull last summer for a fee. We chose to keep him, knowing that come the end of the season, he would be in a strong bargaining position, with us if promoted or another club if we stayed down. this is just the facts of life with players contracts now. They are in strong positions. If we want to secure them on lower level salaries, we have to offer longer terms and less clauses on relegation. If 40k has been agreed, i assume it will be on a longer term (4 years). Kasper is then guaranteed 8 mill over that period. (Less the tax of 4 mill!) Fwiw, i dont think 40k compared to 30k will cause problems in the squad. Those on 30k know they can negotiate up that amount when it cones to the time that their contracts come up for discussion. Also, those earning the higher salaries have to be worth it in the eyes of the other players. I doubt many of them would moan about a performing messi earning 300k per week if the end result was the club making the top 4 and them sharing the riches that would come with that. Our problem during and post sven was players such as beckford not caring/trying enough and drawing double those who were giving their all for the team. Great Post. We are in the Premier League and this is the sort of cost that comes with being a PL team. The TV money given to the club is something in the realm 80mil. it is to be used in such things as increased wages, transfer fees and running a team in the PL. Fan thinking now has to adjust to our new business model in this League. The Thai owners have huge incentives to keep us up for the benefit of King Power. The exposure of their company by having in the PL and staying there is massive.
bmt Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/City-news-Leicester-keeper-Kasper-Schmeichel-sign/story-21113787-detail/story.html Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will sign a four-year contract this week. The Denmark international has agreed the new deal and will commit his future to City, despite interest from several other clubs. Schmeichel, pictured, who was due to be out of contract at the end of next month, was linked with Manchester United, AC Milan, Arsenal and Southampton. The 27-year-old will become one of City's highest earners but reports he is set to earn £40,000 a week are wide of the mark, the Mercury understands. Nothing new really but confirmation of what we know.
davieG Posted 20 May 2014 Posted 20 May 2014 Danish goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is one of the better free transfers available in English football this summer and had been linked with several big clubs. Leicester City's promotion to the Premier League gave the club a realistic chance of keeping the player and there were repeated reports in the British press on Monday that a deal was done. The man himself has spoken to Danish newspaper Berlingske and told them that, although things are close to being agreed, it's not at the stage where anything can be announced. "There's nothing signed yet, but we are close. It is very natural that I would like to stay, because we have fought for three years to go up, and now finally succeeded. "The club and I'm reasonably agree on things, and I hope soon to be able to announce that I will be in Leicester. "That's [The Premier League] where I want to play, and I have never hid it. We have a good club with a good setup and a good coaching staff. Maybe we need some extra players, but the intention is then that we can make our voice heard." The Danish newspaper say that Schmeichel's camp have made sure there's a clause in his contract which means that if Leicester City are relegated he can leave for a fixed amount. They also say the goalkeeper will be the best paid player in the history of the club.
