Tommythefox06 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Forty ****ing grand a week? We better be hoping he turns into a Mignolet/Begovic. Not a fan of Mignolet, makes some great saves but is a mistake waiting to happen, and not sure he inspires confidence in his back four
st albans fox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 We could have sold kasper to hull last summer for a fee. We chose to keep him, knowing that come the end of the season, he would be in a strong bargaining position, with us if promoted or another club if we stayed down. this is just the facts of life with players contracts now. They are in strong positions. If we want to secure them on lower level salaries, we have to offer longer terms and less clauses on relegation. If 40k has been agreed, i assume it will be on a longer term (4 years). Kasper is then guaranteed 8 mill over that period. (Less the tax of 4 mill!) Fwiw, i dont think 40k compared to 30k will cause problems in the squad. Those on 30k know they can negotiate up that amount when it cones to the time that their contracts come up for discussion. Also, those earning the higher salaries have to be worth it in the eyes of the other players. I doubt many of them would moan about a performing messi earning 300k per week if the end result was the club making the top 4 and them sharing the riches that would come with that. Our problem during and post sven was players such as beckford not caring/trying enough and drawing double those who were giving their all for the team.
Vlad the Fox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 I should imagine the figure would include bonuses for wins, clean sheets staying up ect. Assuming the report is correct.
Dan Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Not a fan of Mignolet, makes some great saves but is a mistake waiting to happen, and not sure he inspires confidence in his back four He seems to have gone backwards at Liverpool to be fair. Replace Mignolet with David Marshall. I agree entirely that wages will go up but this is a big move from us if true. He's yet to convince me he's worth that much, but what do I know.
Guest MattP Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 For 40k a week I expect him to be commanding the penalty area next season in addition to his superb distribution and shot stopping.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 People are taking it as gospel from a tabloid that a player is getting 40k per week. Chill a bit, lads.
yorkie1999 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 I'd like to know where any of these rumours about wages come from, i mean its not as though the agents come out of a meeting with a big sign saying "I've got kasper £40k a week and 4 years so up yours!" is it. Its in no-ones interest for that kind of info to be banded about.I bet no-one apart from the club and the player/agent know what any player is on. Its all guess work. In fact its probably in kaspers interests to come out and say im on £20k a week.
MPH Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Next summer so it's certainly a contract I'd like to see us attempt to renew in the next couple of months. I think when Drinkwater starts getting offers from the likes of Arsenal and the like, that's when he can get 40k from us.
bluebeau Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Let's face it, you guys that are coming on to the site with your good & wise advice, the hugely successful owners of the football club haven't got a clue what they are doing. Neither has NP the Football League Manager of the year. I just can't understand why Top & his Dad don't appoint some of you onto the board of directors! Sack the board, Pearson out!!!
MPH Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 And by 2001 we were in administration But this year we have owners who have just wiped out our debt and more tv money for the bottom club than what the Champions got two years ago. It's a completely different scenario.
Stevosevic Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 "@Dorselator: Kasper Schmeichel agrees verbally to new contract to stay at #lcfc in the Premier League. He will sign the deal in the middle of this week." Sky saying it is close now as well.
st albans fox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 If this is true, i wonder how influential the period in thailand has been re strengthening the bonds that clearly exist in the squad?
fazzyfox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 All new season tickets have sold out, most current season ticket holders are surely going to renew anyway, ticket's for the first game of next season aren't on sale yet, I get what you mean but your point about ticket sales is pretty flawed really, the club will not be worrying about that for one second. Sorry I should have been clearer Matt, I completely agree with you, the "ah" was short for "ah - there aren't any left" (so there's no need to hurry on that account.) I just hope it is true about the contract and announced ASAP to give us a sense or reassurance and widen the already wide smiles on fans faces. Tickets this summer have sold and will sell regardless of signings and that's a credit to the fans and the squad but in previous years they would have been desperate to announce it.
VLC86 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Not confirmed yet, so no point talking about it. !! If that was the case forums wouldn't exist
MPH Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 If this is true, i wonder how influential the period in thailand has been re strengthening the bonds that clearly exist in the squad?Top threatened to release photo evidence of him 'bonding' with a lady boy on the tour...
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 If true, I'm very happy about this. It would be a real statement of intent by the club. On an aside, has Nige signed yet? Have I missed that?
yorkie1999 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 !! If that was the case forums wouldn't exist We'd end up having to talk about actual football. Perish the thought.
ZeljkoKalac1 Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 You shouldn't judge this deal by the size of his wages. For example it is the same as spending 4 mil on a new keeper and paying him 20k a week. Rightly or wrongly players have the upper hand in these situations. Personally I think it's a gamble, he isn't proven at top level. But being a manager transfer wise is all about taking gambles, good luck to Nigel on this one and I hope it pays off! Also his current track record at signings is pretty impressive recently - not many turkey's!
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 I had a dream last night where I bumped into him and he told me he'd signed for PSG. He also then took me on a walk to a theme park and showed me the giant dinosaur statue me owned which had a laser that rose out of its head so watch this space Pretty sure the tabloids read fan forums so don't be surprised if this appears as a "strong rumour" in the sports pages on Monday.
DangerFox Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 Has this been confirmed anywhere?????? I haven't seen it!
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 May 2014 Posted 17 May 2014 I knew that the £30,000 wage cap talk was a load of old tosh.
