Vlad the Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Will players agree to relegation clauses though? And if we're insisting on them will it work against us with players refusing to sign? I agree they should be included but I just wonder if in today's game of agents and players having so much power that it's out of the clubs hands.
suffolk fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 This man is deffo worth a three year contract. Some of you have very short memorys. His goals alone against Leeds, Burnley and Qpr are deserving of three years. Add in his assists and that makes him priceless. Would you rather him go to one of our rivals? i.e. Burnley?
Steven Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Doesn't work hard??? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Quite. The only thing not going for Nugent is his age.
Agent Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 The fact we're offering him a contract in the first place saddens me. He is not good enough for the Premier League. You can berate me all you like but this will be proved next season. 3 years is financial suicide from our point of view. Get rid.
leicesterseddon Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 This all makes me laff. We paid over the tops and huge wages. NP come in and sorted a mess out. Now cos we are a prem side n the club/Nige is doing things right some seem to think 3yr contracts on prem wages is right. Yes these players got us up but they would have fvcked off if a better offer had come in. The club was wrong for paying silly money now it's wrong for not throwing contracts around like confetti. What do some of you want? If you want the club to throw it round n go bust just cos a player played for us in a team that won the league fine. Do one fvck off n support man city or chelski. Personally long after any player I want my club still playing and not back on viccy park. Spot on. So many people have forgotten that, objectively speaking, the club is still in the shit financially. Yes promotion will bring in TV revenue - but our club has done nothing but make huge losses for the last few seasons. Our debt situation has improved with the owners converting it into equity, but we're still a long way off balancing the books. We've thrown too much money at mediocre players over the last few years. I'm commenting on the Nuge situation in particular, but I'm glad that after so long someone at the club might be trying to run the thing properly and at least think about these things.
Agent Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 For fook's sake. Weren't you watching any of last season? I don't think anyone could have worked much harder for the team than Nugent did. After the season he has had and we have had, I'm AMAZED that anyone could criticise Nugent. Throughout the season their were some incredible posts about how he was not what we needed etc... Ridiculous.. then again, on here sometimes, nothing much surprises me anymore. Wow.
Father Ted Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Who'd have thought that's the same David Nugent that we have, look like completely different players. Looks a lot slower, worse touch and less willing to take on players as that video would suggest.

If he's not good enough for the premier league, then you might as well say James, Mahrez, Knockeart etc. aren't because he had a good a season as any other player last year.
davieG Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 You have to consider the alternatives Can we get someone considerable better than Nuge to come to unfashionable LCFC? If we can then it's going to cost not only bigger wages and longer contract but a big fee up front. Even to get someone the equivalent of could end up costing more with no guarantee they'll 'fit' the team. We would also need our extra striker that most seem to think we need so you can probably double that.

You suggest we should just release our top scorer, because you do not believe his is good enough for the prem. Surely then, over half the squad should be axed at the earliest oppurtunity. Maybe we should cull all but the 5 or 6 players you think are good enough, and then sign another 15 to make a team with?
little Brian Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 11 or 12 goals from open play in a team that hammers everything in their way .......says it all ...let him go
LCFC31 Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 11 or 12 goals from open play in a team that hammers everything in their way .......says it all ...let him go Shall we just forget he was our top assister then

What are the alternatives? We will need another striker, but 2? Let's walk in PL before we get ahead of ourselves.
Matt Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 I'd be sad to see him go on the other hand I wouldn't go pandering to him, chasing after him, i'd be offering him a contract if he didn't like it perhaps slightly improve it and give him 1 more chance of signing, then i'd be saying take it or leave it, no more improvements, he either accepts or moves on to pastures new.
lgfualol Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Nugent could probably do that now. His game has changed a bit.
Simonb Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Top scorer three years running.. top assist maker by miles last year.. deserves something back for it.. give him the 3 years.. if after two we dont want him someone in the championship will.. too much change in one go is a bad thing.. anyone remember sousa and sven however. . If Pearson decides to get rid then il be happy he made the right decision for his plans
the_enlightened_one Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Nugent spent a number of years in the Premier League with Pompey but never really got a chance, went on loan to Burnley one year and didn't make any headlines. I actually think he has grew a lot as a player since then and I believe he thoroughly deserves a crack at it. 29 years old now so he is in his prime, would be a very useful player to have. Give him 3 years, he's earned it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Nudge to is a decent player but doesn't work hard enough, he looks like he's not bothered half of the time..... We need clever grafters in the prem. Retarded statement to make

Think about it......I can see why the City are stalling, fair play to them - If he doesn't sign up to what we offer him he can go to QPR to retire with the rest of the mercenaries. You need to remember that when Sir Alex was in charge of Man U, he didn't give anyone above 30 more than a one year deal.

You need to remember that when Sir Alex was in charge of Man U, he didn't give anyone above 30 more than a one year deal. There are so many things wrong with this post. I'll mention two. 1) Nugent's game is most certainly not based around pace. Infact, he rarely runs at players or makes darting runs into the box. 2) Just because Sir Alex Ferguson does something doesn't mean we should copy it. Ferguson signed Zaha for £15 million so should we do that?
Livid Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 His partnership with Vardy was cemented last season. With the two of them playing off one another we looked on fire. If we let him go, and however much we spend on a replacement, we have to start in the PL with our front two effctively untried in competitive games. I think he's proven he deserves it, sign him up. If he goes, i'm getting nervous.
