Nuge contract talks stall..

If there is any truth in the story then it's purely a case of the club being sensible in their dealings. My only concern would be that our squad would actually be weaker - with Dyer / Nugent gone and Albrighton / Upson in - than it was at the end of the season.

This all makes me laff.

We paid over the tops and huge wages.

NP come in and sorted a mess out.

Now cos we are a prem side n the club/Nige is doing things right some seem to think 3yr contracts on prem wages is right.

Yes these players got us up but they would have fvcked off if a better offer had come in.

The club was wrong for paying silly money now it's wrong for not throwing contracts around like confetti.

What do some of you want?

If you want the club to throw it round n go bust just cos a player played for us in a team that won the league fine.

Do one fvck off n support man city or chelski.

Personally long after any player I want my club still playing and not back on viccy park.

I wouldn't be bothered if he went. I thought he was poor too often last season and has the stamina of an OAP. He'll be a useful squad player but he isn't worth a 3 year deal on his wages.

If he wants to be back in the championship in a years time he can sign for Burnley. West Ham won't be putting attacking football out there as much. We'll probably see more lone striker formations anyway so his link up play with Vardy will be less important, and his opportunities more limited.

I have seen him run like a rabbit all match and be effective. I have seen him miss sitters. If he did the first always he would be an asset, but not necessarily decisive. On the other hand if we miss sitters as a habit we will be coming right back down.

Overall I'm not too bothered to see him go. He was part of a Pompey side known for overpaying for Championship quality players. Obviously we don't want that destiny. I think we can find more sure bet strikers for the money if his wage demands get too high. That's how I see it anyways.

Controversial but I'd rather keep Dyer than Nugent.

If he goes, a great chance to go out and make an important signing.

Don't we have a great chance to do that anyway?

I would hope that we'll bring in a quality striker in addition to Nugent & Vardy.

2 years for me at that age. Doesn't have the right to demand 3 years because we literally don't know what we'll get at Prem level from a 31 year old. Needs to prove himself despite the work he's done for us this year. C'mon Nuge, be sensible.

I don't see the issue with giving him a three-year contract? He's 29, only turned 29 this month, so still has a couple (at least) good seasons ahead of him, he's just had the best season of his career and has said he's settled and loving life at Leicester. Even if his form does drop in 2 years time we won't have issue finding him a new club in the Championship, his reputation will help alone.

Be very disappointed if we lose him on a free, especially if it's over the contract length.

I'd be fuming if we lost him

From what I was told they've offered 2yr with additional 1 yr if he plays certain amount of games. Agent is trying to squeeze as much out of us as possible that's the hold up.

Nuge 100% wants to stay, heard it from him myself. Top lad

I'd like to keep him, but I can't complain if he leaves on a free because we did after all sign him on a free so we won't of lost anything, really....

This makes complete sense. The agent is just doing his job and chucking it out into the public domain hoping that some other clubs come in with a better offer to use against the club in negotiations. That surely wont happen at the salary we will be paying but a guaranteed three years at a slightly lower wage might be tempting for a 29 year old. To the agent, its just business and he is trying to generate the most income for himself irrespective of his clients emotional status. Bit like kasper - if the player wants to stay then he will. I Doubt the club will change their offer. Not much else to discuss until the next day or so flushes nuge's final position out.

Nugent knows what the club has to offer, if he doesn't like the offer he can always do what dyer has done, just because these players want to stay, doesn't mean they can hold the club to ransom, if it's two years on offer, take it and be grateful the next two years are financially secure, knowing he would be playing top flight football for at least one of the two years.

Nudge to is a decent player but doesn't work hard enough, he looks like he's not bothered half of the time.....

We need clever grafters in the prem.

 It's clear to me that Nuge has played in behind the striker pretty much all year. Vardy does the graft and he's the clever player in behind. When Vardy has been out, he's been the tireless striker doing the work for the player in behind him, and he's done that effectively when asked to. Millwall away springs to mind.
