Asherz Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Saw him today coming out of countesthorpe chippy looked reallly glum tbh...
Asherz Posted 27 May 2014 Posted 27 May 2014 Rosebank road backs onto shetland way i think the guy must live near bassett avenue ... Nuge and schlupp both have a house down on willerby road
Jack1993 Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Unless Nuge has moved down here completely under the radar I don't think he lives on Willoughby Rd, there hasn't been any houses up for sale in ages although I wish he did live here! Schlupp lives in Willoughby Waterleys, the next village along
GrahamCross Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Nugent has played at Premier level , but if not a failure he certainly did not set the world on fire. The owners have set there sights on breaking into the top six with in five years . Nugent is not a top six player and in two years the side would hopefully be changing in to a top half side . So that would make him surplus to requirements . Pearson, as usual, is looking to the future. Nugent has been great for us in the Championship, but I cannot see him getting ten plus goals in the premier ship . If you take away the penalties from this years total, then it dose not look so impressive. I hope he takes the two years offered .Pearson has a history of looking after players that have performed for him.so I have no doubt that if in two years if Nugent is still good enough he would get an extension.

Ric Flair Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Not overly concerned, he'll sign. It does appear we seem more than able to sign new players and give them satisfactory contracts but cannot negotiate successfully with our current players! Bit worrying when hardly any of them have much longer than 12 months on their deal, Terry's playing silly beggars.
Kitchandro Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 He lives next door to Jeff in a Leicester council flat?
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 in a Leicester council flat? beat me to it!! ... he scores with his left foot, he scores with his right....

He was good for Portsmouth which got him his cap. Why would he have been in the England squad let alone play a game if he didn't play well in thePL.
Hack Posted 28 May 2014 Posted 28 May 2014 Was he not good for Preston which got him his cap? You could be right. need to look into it .

Nugent may be not a top six player. But let's be hnest, currently in our squad other than Kasper are there any others? Potentially in years to come there may be a few, but we need a squad next season to keep us up. Nugent could get us around 8 goals next season which could be vital on surviving the drop.

JohnnyFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I saw him in Fosse park Sainsburys on Monday with his missus and daughter. I was actually really tempted to speak to him about it, but of course he wouldn't tell a complete stranger and it's a bit awkward. He was walking out as I was walking in and he was with his family, so it didn't seem a good time to even chat to him.
cuddly ken Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I think we will play mostly with one striker up front and pack the midfield and defence. With us looking to bring in another striker to play this role, I can understand why Nuge is pushing for a 3 year deal in an attempt to secure more money or attract other clubs. If he can't get in our team regularly he will be secure in the knowledge he's on good money for the next 3 years and can either sit on our bench or go on loan. Ketching!

Good decision- I cant see how anyone could fail to be offended by a complete stranger sauntering up to them in a supermarket and questioning them about their employment prospects in front of their young family
Tielemans63 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 I love Nuge and hope he stays. Can't understand some of the stick that some are giving him on here. I think his languid style puts a lot of people off as he's not as obviously hard working as Vardy but imho what he does he does very well . Disagree with those who assume he can't be successful in the prem just because he lacks pace. I think he's a clever enough player to do well in the top flight.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 in a Leicester council flat? I was singing that in my head the moment I'd finished reading what Bert put
CosbehFox Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 In defence of Nuge in the Premier, I would give the Stoke Cup game as evidence he would be good enough. Schlupp and Vardy were largely clueless in this game but when Nuge come on he have Shawcross/Wilson far more of a challenge and bagged a goal (very unlucky not to score before as well). He has the most footballing know how than any other of our strikers. 3 year deal isn't too bad at all in this example ; if we got relegated, we know he can bag 15 a season and he will still remain valuable enough to sell onto a second tier team if we stay up over time.
whitlock Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 It would be weird to see Nuge go and play for someone else, he seems to be a very popular player in the dressing room. I'm not too bothered if he was to stay or go though. For his footballing ability he is not good enough for the Prem and I can't seem him becoming good enough. His hard work for the team in the championship helped out Vardy and the team no end, I can't quite see that being replicated in the Prem against much better players. I'd imagine what ever we have offered him is a fair deal, but if he is wanting more money, longer contract, different bonuses etc then I would stuff him.
Tielemans63 Posted 29 May 2014 Posted 29 May 2014 Amazing how people are stating that he's not good enough for the prem as though it's somehow a fact - without having seen him play in it. The fact is none of us have a clue until he's played at least 10-15 games in the prem.

You're correct though, only fair he's given a crack at it. But if it's true he's stalling on the contract, he's not worth throwing more money etc at because of any sentimental reasons. Personally I'd rather persuade Dyer to stay more than Nuge. Dyer being used as a 20/15minute impact substitution could work really well.
