Manwell Pablo Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 I couldn't care less if he is to be honest. If he's not doing for England he shouldn't play, simple as that. This game is a prime example of what he does, or doesn't do more to the point. Just strolls around playing little 3 yard passes. Well great Roone, that's what we need from you Problem is who has done it for England in the past 4 years. No one. EDIT: Also this game is only 20 minutes old so a bit early to comment.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 He didn't do well for himself in a title winning side so I really can't see where your coming from. He has attributes and he can occasionally produce something unorthadox that's brilliant but his general technique for a professional footballer is dire, never mind an international. He's been an important player for United for about the last 3 seasons. Ferguson routinely picked him in big games. He did well at Sunderland when he was about 20, getting a regular game up front. He's not had one since (hence him wanting to move).
Fox92 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Exactly. I'd expect Milner to play against Uruguay and Italy.
foxfanazer Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Problem is who has done it for England in the past 4 years. No one.I know what you're saying but the point I'm making is as you said he is the closest thing we have to world class so he should take some responsibility. Other World Class players impact games consistently and at least look interested. To me Rooney does the bare minimum and looks happy to do just thatI know it's only 20 mins in but this is what he looks like to me 80% of the time
Jace Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Would rather have Heskey back than Danny Wellcrap (seriously)

And he routinely did very little, how many goals did he score being routinely picked in a title winning side? He did ok at Sunderland, and that was some of the best form he's shown in his career, 3 years ago, most definitley should not be taken into account picking an England squad in 2014 given that there are people in this thread that think Rooney and Sturddige shouldn't be starting despite their club form this season. I think he should move, he'd be out of the England picture within six months.
Babylon Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Stttttttrrrrrrrrike!! Sack Rooney and Wellbeck off. Rather have Stirling and Ox.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Rooney's touch has been absolutely horrendous today.
Babylon Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 We're gonna win the world cup which one?Rooney's touch has been absolutely horrendous today. It's been awful for the last 8 years in an England shirt.

Dr The Singh Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Who has said anywhere that sturridge shouldn't be starting? Not me!Great strike, Enhland don't look like a team at the moment, time required to things to gel. Still very boring
Leicesterpool Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Apart from the goal it's been pretty poor so far, we're not doing enough simple as that. Far too much passing and not running into the box enough. So many are having a stinker at the moment, changes will happen at half time. Both Sterling and Lambert will come on i think, Rooney and Welbeck to come off.

Admittedly he doesn't look the most interested sometimes, but again that's a critisem you could level at plenty of England players. He certainly shouldn't be dropped.
Stadt Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Might be sensible to hold Stirling back a bit. If he plays tonight and tears shit up then hype machine will go into turbo drive. Get him out of the country first and let him play without that kind of pressure.Very good point that.Supposedly we're not expected to do well but if we were to beat Italy then the pressure would be ramped up almost immediately so not starting Barkley and Sterling is probably for the best.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Wonder goal from Sturridge , I was worried it would get ruled out due to another ball on the pitch.... controlling the game , got a good goal so a decent first half...
brookfox Posted 30 May 2014 Posted 30 May 2014 Walcott is surprisingly articulate at half time. Pretty gutted he's not at the WC.
