Out Foxed Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 did we get rid of dyer or what we gave him the horns
Pegosteve Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 He's gone get over it, sorry but he's not premiership quality.
Foxhateram Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Why would he be shouting that at the crowd? Must have been someone of authority in that direction. Watch his lips on the clip, it's clear to see.
ScouseFox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 He's gone get over it, sorry but he's not premiership quality. he has gone, most are over it but surely being one of the best players for large parts of a championship winning season says he surely deserves a chance at showing he's premier league quality
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 he has gone, most are over it but surely being one of the best players for large parts of a championship winning season says he surely deserves a chance at showing he's premier league quality He shouldn't have left then
dedlock Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 He should've have left then He left because the the grass appeared greener elsewhere. What I don't understand is how he ended up at the Udinese franchise in Hertfordshire. LlloydD is a Classic 442/424 winger. How did he hope he might fit in a 3 at the back set up?

dedlock Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 Because he probably listened to his agent I do hope you aren't suggesting that a percentage of the deal was the explanation!
Grewks Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 I do hope you aren't suggesting that a percentage of the deal was the explanation! Well its hardly a step up is it?
Captain... Posted 22 August 2014 Posted 22 August 2014 To be honest it is most likely that Lloyd was taking out his frustration on the bench for turning down a place in a premier league squad to be a bit part player in an average championship team. If I was him I would feel pretty dumb that he could have been playing against Everton instead of Rochdale.
fuchsntf Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Dyer was ill advised, then again he is now old enough, to make his own descisions. IMO he was stupid to give up the Premiership, because other players of his age were offered longer contracts(his words). He shot himself in the foot due to that old addage, footballers 'over rating themselves', their situation, their worth/value. He stayed, he would of got a slight rise, most likely played 20+ games. The fact we are struggling to find or tempt other good players, would of secured himself at least...as one of the top 14 players. Dyer would have been a big help for our squad, his real lack of ambition, and going out on a high, and forsight has lost him top twighlight years and an admiring fans support, and legend status. Without injury, he would of got his 2-3 years, even if the 3rd year may of been only 10-15 games, with cup games to boot. He forgot, when to hold them, when to fold them, when to run with it , he didnt gamble, the silly man just chucked in his hand. Watford is not the team for him, they play in the championship.!!! like mr Mannering said....stupid boy plus his agent has proved how useless agents are at the lower level.
Soar Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I imagine he's starting to regret his decision now. He would have played an important part for us this season especially with our lack of signings and the injuries we've picked up. Sometimes money isn't eveything with footballers and i imagine Llyod will know that more than others right now. A 1 year contract playing football for the club you've been with for 6 years and grown to love or a 3 year contract with a club who means nothing to you? I know what I'd choose.
ImBlue Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He was offered the same length deal as GTF. I'd be insulted too, he can't even run
Mark_w Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He was offered the same length deal as GTF. I'd be insulted too, he can't even run (I think) I'm not just saying this because sleep deprivation has messed with my head, GTF is incredibly underrated.
Corky Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He was offered the same length deal as GTF. I'd be insulted too, he can't even run He was offered what the club felt he was worth at this time, he's coming up to 32 and his game is based around pace which could drop at any moment. In a year he could well get another deal or be offered something elsewhere in a lower division. Lloyd chose the longer term deal and that was his decision.

Of course, and we could argue til the cows come home about how many years he should have got, personally I think 2 was a reasonable ask considering he has had no real injuries and is fit as a fiddle. Plus his contribution to the season.. However I just feel, like at Everton Saturday, we at going to miss his threat and while everyone is claiming it's his loss, it may be more so ours..
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He was offered the same length deal as GTF. I'd be insulted too, he can't even run GTF wasn't offered an extension, he had a clause that was activated after X amount of appearances last season. I said when he left that I don't buy this "he needs security" nonsense. Had he spent the first six months of this season with us (no doubt on more than he'd be earning at Watford) and thought things weren't quite working out, there'd still be no shortage of clubs willing to take him on for a couple of years at a reasonable rate; his reputation as a capable Championship player wouldn't have completely dissolved in that time frame. As it stands now he's a squad player in an average Championship outfit that regularly play a system that can't really accomodate him.
ADK Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Yes it doesn't make much sense. If you are offered a shorter contract it is usually on more money than the longer one anyway. I'd imagine we would have offered two years but at a greatly reduced rate per year as the club feels it is highly likely that Lloyd will be one of the first players to need replacing which isn't unreasonable for a man who relies on pace and is 32 years old. Not only that but the club is in the position where we cannot be sure where we will playing next season. I just hope he made his decision based on logic having thought things through and not in a hurry due to some perceived slight. If Watford have truly offered a good salary for 3 years then fair enough.
kingfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Dyer not in the Watford squad today, being punished.
cc_star Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Missed Dyer today, would have been great on the counter or coming off the bench for Mahrez Wish we'd have taken the hit on the extra year where he probably would have been superfluous to requirements while really helping us out this year. Throwing £8m rising to £10m at Brighton for Ulloa, bidding £10m to £12m for Deeney it's not like we couldn't afford it.
ADK Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I agree really. Unless Dyers demands were truly ridiculous and I doubt that, then it seems poor management.
bovril Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 We have moved on. He is not a Premiership standard player.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Can't believe people are still talking about him
