Captain... Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Be sad to see him go. Not the world's most gifted, but he was a terrific impact player (particularly against poorer sides), and clearly loved playing his football here. On a side note, I'd just like to say that I back the club 100% in its decision to only offer him a one-year contract. As we all know, his main asset is his pace, which is likely to drop off soon given that he's 31. Given that he struggled to keep a regular place in the first team last season, he would only be a fringe player for us next year anyway. It would have been tempting for the management to offer him a longer deal for purely sentimental reasons, but I'm glad they have been a bit more circumspect and level-headed. As the Kasper and Albrighton deals show, the club is prepared to offer 3/4 year contracts - but only to players at the right age and at the right stage of their careers. Previous regimes here have been caught out far too often in the past doling out long contracts to players coming towards the end of their careers. Maybe it's just the FFP regulations, but I'm glad the club finally seem to be getting a grip of things in that department. I agree on the offering of contracts, although I hope they offered him something like the GTF contract where a certain number of appearances triggers an automatic extension. I don't really agree with the fringe player assumption, he lost his place last season due to injury, and Mahrez took his chance, next season we will have injuries and suspensions and he would have got a chance. I just find it so disappointing that he didn't back himself to perform in the Prem. He's been dropped before and always fought his way back into the starting line up. Oh Lloyd, I also think that Watford maybe less forgiving with his inconsistencies, he can be a very frustrating player, if he doesn't start well with them he will lose his place and struggle to get it back.
MattGamble92 Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 If the GTF contract was triggered by the appearances then fair enough. If we've offered GTF a year anyway and not given Lloyd 2 I'll be mortified. I personally would have given Lloyd a 2 year offer. Not least because he's just had his best bet season and looks in the best physical shape he has done than at any point during his time with us. Absolutely great signing for watford
NeilLCFC Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 The thought of Dyer no longer being with us still gets me down.
iamafox Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 Shame that Dyer's gone. If we can't give him games then it makes sense for him to move on. Unfortunately it is at the expense of not playing Premier League football, an opportunity I don't think he'll get ever again. Sad but true.
weller54 Posted 23 June 2014 Posted 23 June 2014 He'll be a failure at Watford.. He can't speak Italian!
Guest Posted 24 June 2014 Posted 24 June 2014 He'll be a failure at Watford.. He can't speak Italian! Maybe not but I bet he learns it quickly.
aefevans Posted 5 July 2014 Posted 5 July 2014 Dyer scored the only goal for Watford in a 1-0 pre-season friendly against Austrian side SK Austria Klagenfurt today, just in case anyone was interested as to how he's getting on

Hope you guys get a couple of great years from him so you see why we rated him. But much as I love him he is a one trick pony once his speed has gone he will struggle. Would have love to see him in the prem for us but not sure he was worth more than the year we offered him at this level. All the best for him and you lot next season the banter was great with you while it lasted. Ps please keep us informed as we do love our old boys to do well helping out lesser sides.
LCFC FOX Posted 6 July 2014 Posted 6 July 2014 I can we Watford getting promoted. They have a strong side

Banks Posted 6 July 2014 Posted 6 July 2014 Vydra, Deeney, Forestieri and Dyer will be a force for them. I'm sure they'll at least make the Play-Offs.
ScouseFox Posted 6 July 2014 Posted 6 July 2014 and of course making the play offs is better than winning the league isn't it watford fans
Soar Fox Posted 6 July 2014 Posted 6 July 2014 Don't Watford play with wing backs? Also can see Deeney leaving this summer, didn't burnley put a bid in for him last week?

Super_horns Posted 6 July 2014 Posted 6 July 2014 Don't Watford play with wing backs? Also can see Deeney leaving this summer, didn't burnley put a bid in for him last week? They did but think we are looking for 6-8 million - maybe over inflated but that's the market for you. Under Sannino we tend to 443. Dyer will surely start - after all he was our first signing and on a 3 year contract he hasn't signed to sit on the bench.

David Lowe Posted 7 July 2014 Posted 7 July 2014 Who will do all the after-match interviews this season?
Super_horns Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 Who will do all the after-match interviews this season? I reckon Sannino will give it a go - he does the written media already but like the new Spurs guy hasn't been confident enough to "talk" in public.
