You don't have to be great to win matches, look at Chile for instance, they don't have the best players around, maybe Sanchez & Vidal their only top class players, but they thrive on team work & togetherness, and it clearly works. Costa Rica look the same, their team work & togetherness is top notch, after Uruguay I'm not surprised to see them doing well against Italy either. A seriously underrated team.

Dear kingfox, you're on a roll today! Erm... Chile played great, effective and clever football against Spain, so yes, you have to be great to win matches. They clearly have some of the best players around, otherwise they wouldn't have made it to the World Cup in the first place, edging out other South American biggies in the process.
