Defensive, dirty team playing negaive tactics and relying on one man. Totally shown up for what they were and I absolutely loved every second. Hope the Germans win the whole thing now.

I honestly think the midfield were at fault for the scoreline. If you watch the main part of the game where it really fell apart, the germans realised the space was there in abundance once it got in that gap that usually Silva would be covering. This was exploited to the point where it kept becoming a 4 v 4 situation. The fact it wasnt stopped after the 2nd goal is poor coaching and poor leadership.

Im actually a big fan of David Luiz as a technical footballer. On the ball hes very gifted. His position really has to become defensive midfield though because the fundemental things that you teach a defender like marking and positioning are non existent at times. He might get away with it in the French league but at this level he'll be found out. Although im not going to make a scapegoat out of him like many, just because he cost £50m. They were collectively all a shambles tonight

I don't think there was a leader out there. Thiago Silva and David Luiz look like they compliment each other fairly well but last night Luiz was making poor decisions al over the place. Positionally he was poor, he came out of the back line too much and that cost them. He also looked a bit lost whenever the ball went wide. He was nowhere near any of the balls that came in and I really think he suffered without that Silva/Terry figure bossing the line alongside him. Exposed his flaws big time.

The midfield was poor as well, lots of ball watching and they stood off Kroos and Khedira and Schwein time and time again, crazy how they didn't learn. You can't give the Germans that much space around the box. I thought Fernandinho was embarrasing, not just getting caught with the ball for that goal but all over the place, looked completely out of his depth.

Fred's Wikipedia page makes for some reading, I don't think he's very popular...

In May 2014, Fred was named in Brazil's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.[15] In the opening match of the tournament, on 12 June against Croatia in São Paulo, Fred fell in the 69th minute, in what has been described as a dive,[16] resulting in a controversial penalty, which Neymar converted for 2–1, and their eventual 3–1 win.[17] Despite receiving criticism for his performances in the opening two matches,[18] Fred continued his good form. He made every attempt to stay clear of the trajectory of the ball. However, it was temporarily cut short against Cameroon, when the ball accidentally went into the net from his head. Although he was in an offside position, the linesman failed to acknowledge it and Fred was forced to hide his disappointment in a celebratory run. The match ended in a a 4–1 defeat ofCameroon which qualified Brazil for the round of 16.[19]. Team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari showed immense faith in the striker by giving him a start in each of the knockout games. He was finally rewarded in the semi finals with Fred standing up to the occasion, after star striker Neymar has fractured his vertebra. The latter along with teammate Hulk ripped apart the German defence with only half a dozen touches combined. They were however let down by their comrade Kaká, who opted to sit out the entire tournament with his son. The match ended in a volley of German goals thus knocking Brazil out of the World Cup. Fred was however hailed a hero and the fans showed their appreciation every time his image was flashed on the giant screens at the stadium.

Still in shock from last night, just simply incredible. I did say Brazil were riding there luck but god who thought the Germans would win by 7-1! I did feel before the tournament started this probably was one of the weaker Brazilian sides. I tell you what the Germans don't miss many chances, they scored more than they missed. Hope Hodgson and the Fa take note this is how we should be playing.

Thanks for that enlightening analysis Sherlock Holmes!

I'm still in a bit of shock though, I thought Germany would win but not in that devastating fashion. Khedira and Kroos were immense.

I suspect Brazil wish they didn't have to play a 3rd/4th games - another performance like that could lead to the Netherlands or Argentina giving them a hammering.

Germany had it so easy - they almost walked the ball in the net at times.

Well that was a painful experience, our resort is crawling with Germans so I picked a bar with bbc commentary. Only thing is it was via the internet so we'd hear the German bars going crazy and then see the goal 50 seconds later.

I never thought I'd cheer Argentina but I will if they make the final.

At least Brazil were humiliated, that's some comfort.

Ayrton Senna, , Sergio Mendes, Pele, Astrud Gilberto can you hear me your boys took a HELL of a beating.(shame it was the bloody germans that administered it)

Oscar ruined my 7-0 bet that I took at 3-0 :-(

Oscar saved my 6-part accumulator bet that I took before the tournament!

France to win their group; Germany & Argentina to both win theirs; England to score 4 or less goals; Spain to score 8 or less goals; Brazil to score 11 or more goals (Oscar's was the 11th!)....just need there to be 2 goals or fewer in 90 minutes in the final and £5 becomes £170..... Could be a nervous Sunday evening, particularly if the Germans play that well again. Hopefully their opponents will put 11 men behind the ball and play for 0-0 and penalties! lol

Go to bed you're drunk.

If you are directing that at me, then I went bed but woke up still laughing my head off... Brazil were lucky all tournament, they didn't even deserve to get out the group. The worst football I had watched in this tournament... thank god they got owned in the end

i have to admit i also laughed my head off at the result. even with Neymar and Silva i still think they would of got comfortably beat. They played terrible football and i firmly believe had the world cup not been in brazil they most certainly wouldnt of made it to the semis.

Hulk and Fred were non existant nearly all tournament

Did anybody else watch that game and think that Germany reminded them of us last season? The speed and ruthlessness on the break; the passing and moving; the overall domination?

I think if 2013/14 LCFC played last night's Germen, the opposing forces would have been so strong that eleven hurricanes would have formed and wiped out most of South America. That's how it works.

Thought this was quite nice.

I'm sure everyone saw the guy on the left looking shocked/saddened/destroyed during last night's crazy final.

But what you don't see is the guy handing the trophy to a German lass at the final whistle and apparently quoted as saying 'Take it to the final. It's not easy but you deserve it, congratulations'.

He was also at the 2006 World Cup (36 seconds in...)
