ousefox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Always liked him myself and feel for him losing a job that he obviously loved. Will be interesting to see who they bring in though I'll only ever listen to the post match comments now there will be a stream for every game i can't get to.
kingfox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Well he couldn't even get players names right, so not overly surprising. Lee Danns
Mark_w Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Ian Stringer @StringerSport Been a pleasure to work with Alan Young for 4 seasons. As @BBCLeicester looks ahead to a new Premier League season, I wish him every success
notnow john Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Geoff Peters Out of Radio Leicester's league. If you think Ulloa is expensive - - -
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I may be in the minority but I really liked him, he was so enthusiastic and you could tell he was a real fan of the club, he made mistakes and waffled from time to time but I enjoyed that part of it, made it feel more real. Ah well, hopefully whoever they get in I will like equally if not more.
whitlock Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Hopefully it's not Bourne. He might know his facts and stats, but he isn't a good Co-Commentator.
Pegosteve Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Gutted for Alan, commentated like he played with passion, guts but not a lot of finesse! He loves the club and you can tell that through listening. Suppose its time for somebody boring to the airwaves! Good luck Alan.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I'd prefer Alan's passion and pride to be part of team representing LCFC than some bore media man like Jason Bourne any day of the week. His co-commentary may not have been perfect but he spoke like a proper fan, and since that is the only audience RL can feasibly target why sack him?
Leicesterpool Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 What about Brian Little? He's not doing anything at the moment is he...
Finnaldo Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 He was a bit like an annoying uncle who always got things slightly wrong, but you still loved him. My favorite Yongy... The irony
bluesbrothers Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I'll stop listening if Walshy ends up commentating. His standards make Youngy look like John Motson. He only ever talks about himself.
Fox92 Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Got on my nerves sometimes with certain comments, but overall he had a good working relationship with Stringer and they made a great pair imo. Passion was second to none.
Ansteyfox Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Spent 2011,2013 and half of 2013 living in Singapore and loved Youngy's admittedly dubious commentary with Stringer listening on Foxes Player on Saturday nights after the pub.
StanSP Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I doubt he was sacked because he couldn't pronounce names though. He would have been long gone by now if that's the reason.
tylesta Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Hopefully it's not Bourne. He might know his facts and stats, but he isn't a good Co-Commentator. co??? he has commentated on games before forest springs to mind.....took me couple of minutes to realise that vardy had scored
Gary Eatfood Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I'll do it for free if you want, BBC. I'll do it for free and prepare gourmet sandwiches for every away trip!
tylesta Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 anyone remember when mahrez scored v forest and he was going nuts and the forest fans started on him and bourne
Leicesterpool Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 co??? he has commentated on games before forest springs to mind.....took me couple of minutes to realise that vardy had scored He's done a few games actually, but I don't think he's that quite popular as the other presenters.
Bettsj2 Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Never liked him. Didn't have the nostalgia angle to convince me to like him either. His commentary was awful, his opinions on the phone in often contradicted themselves and his inability to get players names right was ridiculous for an expert commentator.
Corky Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 I think we should get kingfox as co-commentator. Stringer: "Vardy's through on goal, oh JUST WIDE" kingfox: "Well, Ian, if we'd signed Mai Dupplaya from Holland from £3.5 million he'd of scored that, no doubt. Swansea bidded for him, Pearson spent too much time going for Ulloa".
Spudulike Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Loved Youngy as a City player and his combination with Ian Stringer has been the best that Radio Leicester has ever had. Don't know why he's leaving but just hope that he'll still support us and get to matches. True legend
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 July 2014 Posted 11 July 2014 Im disappointed for him. Stringer and Youngy are like Apple Crumble and Custard. Bit harsh to sack him as soon as we reach the promised land.
