Leicester City have completed the signing of Esteban Cambiasso.

The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid midfielder has finally put pen to paper on a one-year deal, joining as a free agent following weeks of negotiations.

Cambiasso will wear the number 19 shirt but City will not know until tomorrow whether Cambiasso will be eligible for the visit of Arsenal on Sunday.

Reports had suggested that City were hoping to sign the Argentinian on a two-year deal but Cambiasso was quoted earlier this week saying his preference would be a one-year contract.

The deal to sign Cambiasso had initially stalled due to issues with the players’ representatives.

But Pearson said earlier this week that progress has been made over the weekend and it is believed Cambiasso later contacted the club to confirm his desire to join.

Cambiasso is the most decorated Argentinian footballer in history, winning more trophies than any other player, including the Champions League with Inter in 2010 under Jose Mourinho.

The deal is likely to leave any potential move for Wigan midfielder James McArthur in doubt.

City were understood to have had a second bid, of around £7m rejected as there were some issues over the structure of the payment.

Crystal Palace are now said to be interested in the Scotland international.

Finally.

Now prove you've been worth the wait and saga.

I have an open mind, it goes without saying I want him to do well, welcome.

Do you Matt really have an open mind?  99% of your posts are always negative or contrarian.
