Stadt Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I reckon if QPR were signing him and we weren't interested the comments would be a lot different.
fox in the sox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 According to the Guardian LCFC have beaten QPR to his signature.
lcfcnsk Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 England striker Jermain Defoe is a new player of Leicester City. Arrives from Toronto
Robin JD Popley Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 @Futbol_Mercado Follow El delantero inglés Jermain Defoe es nuevo jugador del Leicester City. Llega procedente del Toronto. They were right about Cambiasso. Fingers crossed.
les-tah Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 People who are turning their noses up at defoe need their head looking at. We are rock bottom of the premiership with 13 points. Think ourselves lucky someone of that calibre is considering helping us out.
The Doctor Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Genuinely WTF? Vardy is pathetically bad in comparrison to Defoe. Vardy litterally cannot finish for sh*t. Get's himself in front of goal and all he knows is 'kick it hard'. Honestly... He was pretty composed last season, for Fleetwood and vs Man Utd - Seems more that his confidence is shot and doesn't have the self confidence to pass it in like he was doing last season

We got 14 points and I dont think we would see it as him helping us out, we would expedt him to be part of the team and work as hard as anybody.
6ups 6downs 2 cups Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Thing is if Defoe gets a chance you would be pretty confident of him finishing it, you can't say that about any of our current strikers, well possibly Ulloa.
johnny the fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Is he the most expensive groin strain in history?
Stevosevic Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 People actually think he would be on his Toronto wage here? Do people not know Pearson at all yet?
les-tah Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 We got 14 points and I dont think we would see it as him helping us out, we would expedt him to be part of the team and work as hard as anybody. apologies correction 14 haha! Well working hard and being part of a team goes without sayin, but when has defoe been known as not doing this? And HOW the FUUKK is us signing defoe not helping us out? Twice the striker of anything we've got, and if you can't see that your deluded*. (*ulloa aside as he is a different type of striker to defoe)
Clever Fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 No doubting his goal scoring ability and exactly the type of player we need. My only concern is he hasn't played since October through injury and may need to get back to full match fitness. I remember people saying Cottee and Dickov were past it and they didn't do to bad for us. Hopfully it works out.
dannythefox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 If we got messi someone would moan, Defoe would be a great signing anybody thinks any different give your head a wobble.
queensguardfox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Anything Concrete yet? is this happening? whats the most reliable source we have yet?
Robin JD Popley Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Anything Concrete yet? is this happening? As I said above Queens, although we haven't seen him hold up a shirt yet, Mercado were right about Cambiasso in August and like the Guardian, don't usually post/print anything without some substance. I'd be inclined to think we may be closing in on something to this end.
johnny the fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 If we got messi someone would moan, Defoe would be a great signing anybody thinks any different give your head a wobble. Messi never tracks back..so don't want the cant here..
MooseBreath Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Not complaining but wouldn't have ranked an aging journeyman striker as anywhere near top priority right now. When we've struggled this season we've barely created any chances. I can hardly think of any examples where we've missed chances that I'd have been particularly confident of Defoe finishing. Our problem is we don't create enough chances in the first place. Defoe won't create chances. He won't finish many if any more of the chances we do create. Signing a striker because you're no scoring enough goals is quite simplistic. I don't think this signing will do us much good. No bad, but no good either.
Harry - LCFC Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 If we got messi someone would moan, Defoe would be a great signing anybody thinks any different give your head a wobble. Is it unthinkable that he might not have the right attitude having gone to the MLS or that he might have lost his touch a little? I get so bored of these little phrases implying that those who don't agree 'aren't thinking properly'. You don't sound intelligent or convincing. The only person's who's definitely wrong here is you claiming you know that he'd be good signing. You don't.
MHC Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 A striker should be our top priority. That doesn't mean it should be a 32 yr old who has barely EVER been first choice at a club, plays in a crap league in America and is probably on loads of money.Do you actually have the slightest clue about football? We create about 2 or 3 goal scoring opportunities per match and I guarantee that Defoe would put at least one of them away as opposed to Ulloa only scoring headers and Vardy and Nugent scoring 1 in about 20 each. Defoe is a 1 in 3 striker regardless of his age.Edit: and why are people constantly moaning about his wages? It's not like your paying them and besides good players cost money and if we aren't willing to spend money we may as well just give up.
Charl91 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Defoe is proven Prem quality. If we can get him, then it's a good signing - in his day he was fantastic, and even an older Defoe will be better than all other options that we have, with the exception of possibly Ulloa.

Personally, I think there's plenty of chances he most likely would have scored. Vardy vs. QPR, Mahrez vs. QPR, Wood vs. Southampton, Cambiasso vs. Swansea, Mahrez vs. Liverpool the other day etc... and that's just to name a few. He wouldn't have scored every chance he had but he would have done a lot better than our current players have done at those attempts.

The only player we have similar is vardy and he is not a premiership striker almost like a headless chicken up there. It's like saying if we signed Diego costa he wouldn't score because we don't create chances from midfield. You can see from cambiasso he sees balls and makes passes other player don't see.
Charl91 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 19 goals for England in 55 appearances. That's a bloody good record if you ask me.
NewquayFox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 A fit Defoe will be a great asset to City, sign him up please and forget about all this relegation rubbish, the goals for him, Ulloa & Nugent will fly in plus those from Vardy, Mahrez, Lawrence & Schlupp and its Europa League for us.....
Raj Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I ain't over excited for some reason? Always think the worst-will his wages create tension within a good squad? For we need a mercenary here just for £££?? Sooner have Aaron Lennon
