PAULCFC Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 He'll go to QPR. They need a striker as much as we do. Would LOVE him here though, should have played for England more than he did. I think Tony has a few more thing's to sort out rather than signing cheques, that makes me believe that we'll get him.

Jordan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Bradley Wright-Phillips has got 27 in 32I don't mean to knock BWP's achievements at all, but Defoe's supporting cast in Toronto were in awful form for much of last season. TFC's two other big signings--Michael Bradley and Gilberto--really struggled last season and I think Defoe did well (when he was healthy) considering he had little service. BWP looked awesome last season but that NYRB team had the best offense in the Eastern Conference. They finished the season in such fine form with Tim Cahill--who can walk into a lot of starting XI's all over the world--coming off the bench. It's safe to say Defoe didn't have that kind of quality around him last season.
Dan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 What are the odds on him ending up on loan at Vitesse?
ADK Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I'd be happy enough with Defoe as he has the right attitude and isn't ancient. He could replace Vardy.

Gilberto and Defoe never clicked together and Defoe's injuries didn't help. Though when Defoe did play you could tell he was a step above the MLS level in terms of finishing. Didn't need many chances to put it away.
SeattleShane Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Because he doesn't want to read this and he's too thick to close the web page. Because this is a message board................oops

Vacamion Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Offense... OFFENSE!!! Don't come on here with your American lingo or i'll kick your fanny. It says more about me than you, but I mistakenly read the word "kick" as "lick" in the above post....
MC Prussian Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/jan/02/jermain-defoe-leicester-return-premier-league "Ooh... err... Jermain... Defoe!!" Please don't let this be too much of a financial burden on the club. And Jermain, bang them goals in left and right of the pitch. Just shoot. We know you like it. If I were younger, I'd probably jizz me pants, so to speak. For now, I'll just happily sit back, relax and let the whole January transfer window unfold. The start's already promising.
Leicesterfarian Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Jake Humphreys has just linked him with a loan move to Liverpool on Twitter.

Callabinho Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 The guys at the guardian are pretty good, I know one of them, and they usually don't print any transfer news of this ilk without some substance.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I'd be happy with Defoe but I think we'll have a really hard time sealing a deal
dayday Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 I just hope it's the Defoe of old if we sign him,the Sun are saying a 4 million pound move, with wages being around 75k a week. That is one hell of a gamble on a player that is starting to pick up niggling injuries and being 32
Tielemans63 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 It's a gamble definitely worth taking in my opinion. Reminds me a bit of when MON brought Tony Cottee back from Malaysia. Everyone said he was finished but he proved an unbelievable signing for us. Think JD could do a similar job.
weller54 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 75k a week!!.. Madness for a old, injury prone hasbeen!!... I'd prefer us going back in for Deeney!
Lcfcwigstonblue Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Let's be honest it's a no brainer the chances we missed against Tottenham and Liverpool would have resulted in a goal if they fell to Defoe. We also won't be paying him £75,000 a week. Great signing of we can pull it off.
Tielemans63 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 There's no way we'd pay anyone 75k a week. No way.
leftbackinthechangingroom Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Worth the risk in my opinion get him in on a short term deal on that amount of money. He'd be worth every penny when we stay up. Should we get relegated move him on we only had him on a short term so can be moved on at little expense.
Stevosevic Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 He know he will be taking a pay cut where ever he goes.
